I know most don't like anything but the Aisin Carb but I have had so much trouble with mine I had to try an alternate. I did have it professionally rebuilt with little improvement. I have tried 2 aisins now with similar results - my problem was with the vac secondary stumbling.
After doing a Motorcraft 2100 on my other 76' sbc 305 with great results and major simplicity I tried it on my second 76' 2f. So far it it runs great with no stumble and starts easily. I will post up mpg and a road test as soon as I register it.

1. Motorcraft 2100 2bbl with 1.08 Venturis,

2. Stripped all auto choke parts off and went used the stock manual cruiser choke. Simple and straightforward.

3. Removed all rod linkage from the 2f and drilled one 5/16 hole in the firewall and use a hot rod braided cable assemble. Very simple.( saved all oem stuff and can go back if needed) I postioned the braided cable in the front of the carb for a front pull and easy asccess and adjustment.

4. Motorcraft sits about the same height as Aisin so I used a 92'
Caddicalla Deville air cleaner. Simple to attach and gives plenty
of hood clearance.
5. Rebuilt the Motorcraft ( very easy with good instructions) and settled on using #47 jets ( I may drop down back to one #45 and #one 46 to lean it a bit. I will test with a Innovate 4wire
O2 sensor Air Fuel Ratio tester after I weld a bung into the header collector.

cost

Motorcraft 2100 $15 pick and pull
Rebuild Kit $16 Orilleys
Holley adapter $30 Ebay
Hot rod linkage $20 ebay
Caddy Airbox $15 Pick and Pull

So far I'm pleased and have driven a few miles close to home with
Excellent throttle response and easy starts on cold days. ( I feel like I can pass someone now)

I welded a small arm to the existing pedal in the pic below and attached the cable to the arm.

Id ran a shorter breather tube from the rocker cover to the airbox
and got rid of the longer one coming from the front of the air box( under hood pic last in series)

Nice write up. I think a friend of mine has one of these kicking around. I may have to try one myself. I'm getting tired of tinkering with my Weber.

Very interesting and I like how the air filter sits in the engine bay. I like my Asin, but options are always a bonus. Could you please let me know your experience with the following questions?

1) What year is your motor?
2) What axle ratio, tranny, and xcase (stock?)?
3) What is your milage?
4) How does it do off-camber?

Especially #4. If it sucks off road you could've just bought the whole car it was in.

1. 76 2f with excellent compression
2. Standard stock 76' drive-train 4:10 ratio
3. No MPG figures yet as I have to dial it in with AFR meter-
I am expecting 16-18 mpg with detailed test.
4. One of the biggest reasons I tried this is I had emails from 2 other
reputable cruiser-heads on the board that run these. Texican and forget the other. Texican said his still ran laying on its side.
I'm not a hard core bash'em up wheeler. Did some of that in my younger years. I don't mind getting jiggy and my V8 MC carb'd cruiser has taken me anywhere I pointed it without fail. my other Motorcraft V8 write up here:

( ignore the hydrogen post's someone thru in)

It's one of the top things j**p guys do to improve Thier v8 they run alot better than my Carter with off road seats and floats and it holds its own out there

The Jeep 258 CI six is one that is most improved with a MC carb.
not pimpin his ad- you can buy cheaper anywhere but his info is good as you read down and his feed back looks reliable. Just one more reason maybe. Jeep six has a lot in common with the 2F and GM sixes. He has sold over 10,000 kits??

I bought my assortments of jets from here.

I run the same air cleaner on my tbi 2f. I stole the idea from spacegost a long time ago it works well.

If you really get that type of milage out of the carb (and it does well off camber [if Texan uses it]), this is a great option.

I've run one for years - once Texican turned me on to it. Works great off camber. Starts easy and runs great. Plus it's bone simple to rebuild. I kept the auto choke on mine and it works fine.
I should switch to that air cleaner. I've been running one of those cheapy chrome ones from the auto parts store. The Caddy one looks nicer.

I need to have my asin professionally rebuilt but, this carb is easy to rebuild and adjust. I had one in my old jeep. I may just get one instead if it does get better gas mileage. Keep us posted. I really want to see the mileage comparison. With Asins costing in the 250 range for rebuild, for more than half a rebuilt one can be installed.

not yet- still on my first tank... I plan on petting a good test on it using gps and measured amount of fuel
as I did on my V8 post. I am also waiting for my buddy to bring his innovate AFR tester from Vegas so I can test my
fuel to air ratio.

Runs pretty good though. I'm pleased so far.

Just waiting for a warmer day.

Thanks, I have a weber now and am not very happy with the way it behaves, so this is of major interest to me. AEM has a fairly inexpensive wideband available that is in a nice 52mm gauge. I used a powerdex afx on my old supra build and was very pleased with it. There is a diy kit that was fairly inexpensive around $65 but for the life of me I cannot remember who it was that sold them.

My buddy just dug one of these out of his parts stash for me. Is the adapter you used one of the trans-dapt ones with the slotted holes where it mounts to the manifold? I saw that summit carried those and was wondering if that's what you used.
