Why would anyone take the time to track this? Assume there are LCs around the world who have spent their entire life off-road.

In 2016 Ouray our group did 80 miles in a day. I did the white rim in 2015 and that was a hair over 100 miles after some sight seeing. Would be cool to know just how many dirt miles I've logged but I think is the equivalent to the age old question of how many licks to the center of a tootsie pop. 1,2,3 - crunch!!!

Winner

On a more personal note we did a TON this past summer in the '16 from Kaibab to Grand Escalante and BLM in AZ,NM,UT & NV. Easily several hundred miles of our 5000+mi trip. Definitely scratching the surface compared to my 100 but we're working on it; and that's the fun part!

I've used Gaia apps since the get-go to track everything. I'm not going to add everything up, but it looks like about 2000 / 30000 miles have been offroad. You can thank Death Valley for most of that.

Maybe "off-pavement" should count as "off road"?

:steer: Tough to avoid dirt roads...even in Ouray, Breck, Moab, etc.

No doubt in my mind. The more severe "roads" at speed can deliver a blow just as hard as any rock I've I've bounced off/scraped over! My arms may get a workout on a slow rocky trail but my kidneys hurt after a full day of those blasting down some of those severe washboards in Maine!

Wow that's huge in my mind.

Took a closer look... I was right about Death Valley.

1000 miles around Death Valley and the Eastern Sierra
200 miles around Big Sur and the central coast
200 miles around Ouray
150 miles around Moab
150 miles around the Sierras plus misc places in Northern California
100 miles around Breckenridge
~200 miles misc fire roads/gravel roads and easy trails in Washington, Wyoming, and Montana

I'd estimate ~250 miles or so of technical trails.
