Yes. With 2 points.
1. I think the boulder switch back could be done in reverse. We may not need to try to turn around it. Maybe...
2. The clutch worry could be dealt with by using the parking brake too. The 40's and 60's will work great with this. It's what we did taking off from a start on a steep hill in SF. Not sure how the electronic stuff works on the newer vehicles.
Also, make sure your parking brake is in good shape...you'll need it on this trail!
Actually you might be right on reversing the boulder for shorter vehicles, but if my memory is correct after unsuccessfully trying a forward approach we switched to reverse and I ended up in an Austin Powers scenario
Someone is going to have to explain to me how the clutch start thing works. i understand it in theory, but never seen it used in practice.
Clutch start cancel allows you to start the vehicle without the clutch pedal depressed to the floor. Awesome for warming up the vehicle during the winter without climbing in, but also very helpful on the trail to start without any rollback. While in 4lo and first gear you simply engage the clutch start cancel and turn the key, first gear will keep you in position without using the brakes, you'll start and immediately begin moving forward at a slow pace and then can add gas as needed. Couple points to consider, 1. First gear should keep you from rolling back but I'd give it a quick test and be ready to reapply the brake. 2. On very steep terrain if you're running over-sized tires and have a lot of extra weight this might not work, the engine will try and turn over but you'll stall before you get going. Not a big deal though, since you're still in gear you won't risk rollback. I'm hoping lower gears will help with this.
