How many gallons did you burn through when you ran it last weekend?
I fueled up in Bozeman, along with 2 5gallon cans. We didn't fuel in Bridger, figuring there would be a gas station closer to Clark. No. I used both cans and made it to Red Lodge with a 1/4 tank. Adam had no extra fuel, ran out of gas, and is still up there....... He made it to Red Lodge with maybe 1/8 tank? I will do the same this weekend as well. Red Lodge had ethanol free gas too. I'm a gas snob!

Just so I'm 100% certain!
my gps is saying the coordinates for the trail head is

W109 18' 54" N44 50' 45"

Is this correct?

That is the exact spot. In fact, there is a porta potty exactly right there!!

So the lineup so far is:

bagochips76
Nohermosa
secretasiansam
Make It
Small Truck
elkun1
rc51kid
ttFJC
Myself

There is one spot left...any takers?

TC, thanks fro the mileage clarification and the map. Rob can't make it so there's an extra spot

We are thinking it might be less stressful to come on out Friday. When are you guys getting in to your camping spot on Friday night? Also, any idea of directions comming from the south, up from Cody?

I'm planning on leaving Vail Friday morning, I'll meet you all at the trailhead. I'll camp out somewhere in Wy near by. Let'er buck!! 2fjc's!!

All the cool kids are going up on Friday!! Looks like you'll take 120 north to the Edelweiss Haus and turn left on 292 (nothing there says 292, but turn at the Edelweiss Haus). We will probably get there around 9-9:30. Be sure to gas up in Cody, doesn't look like there is any other gas stations after. Google Cody to Clark WY.

Uncle Buck!! Glad you're in, buddy. Are you arriving on Friday? We will be camping at the trail head Friday night.

Yes sir, sometime Friday evening. I'll meet you all there. About a 7hr drive. Currently no cb, the antenna ripped off in SD. Have to swing by a truck stop, pick one up and hope it works

Bummer about Rob. What's your top speed?
55-60 but an average for calculations with hills involved is 50. Im more comfortable going faster in the evening when the engine runs a little cooler. I'll probably leave a little earlier, or show up late, whatever. Wish I had one of dem cool guy roof tents that are perfect for setting up when its late and dark...

Sorry me again, so 185m/50mph=3.7 hrs. I don't expect anyone to add 45 minutes to there drive just so they can chat with me on the cb, but anyone thats that fast (slow) you are welcome to join my gang : )

I was wonding if that trail was open? It's been many years when I was last on it and it was a bitch then! For those tight switchbacks try disengaging your lockers to limit the stress on drive train if you can.
O by the way lots of Grizzlys in that area!

Perfect. We will catch up to you at some point. Be sure to fuel up in Bridger, on 310.

Thanks red mud FJ! It is open, pre ran the trail last weekend. Best trail yet!! And it IS big time griz country. All you tent campers need to take proper precautions.

Be prepared for all mother natures tricks! I have been soaked by pouring cold rain, froz by flash blizzads in the middle of summer many times. Last week it was 90 degres in Red Lodge and 50 with strong winds on the mountain when I was fishing on the Clarks Fork river.
If you need gas the Top of the World store should have some and Cook City has gas, food and motels $.
Maybe someday I can join one of your trail runs. I am originaly from Lewistown MT.

Funny... I just put in Clark Wy in google maps to check my route. Do you believe the directions take me down the switchbacks on Morrison Jeep trail! I would feel bad for some idiot in a rental car trying to follow those directions.

Sounds good. How far down 292 will you guys be camping? We might make it to that area before that depending on how long we take in Cody.

Don't go that way!

That road ends when the pavement ends. There is a huge parking area there, and it is the official trailhead of Morrison Rd.
