Uhhhh,

Maybe take me off your guest list...

joking kind of...

I'm glad you're safe.

That kinda stuff can happen to any of us at any time. All the more reason to go prepared with everything you could need to survive an extended amount of time. (Longer distance from help = more supply's) and or always travel with another rig when you can.

Yes I rolled it just after dark Slid off Mormon emigrant and down into a gully . Seems limited to body damage only View attachment 1179047 View attachment 1179042 View attachment 1179044

Holy s*** dude!!! Im glad you're ok!!!
The fiancé and I were heading up the hill today and I saw an 80 on a flatbed going down the hill. I was hoping it wasn't one of yous guys!

It looked pretty bad. Is it not as bad as it looks?

That sucks man. Are you going to try and buff it out and get it back on the road or scrap it?

If you saw where the vehicle went off the road you would be surprised that is was not even worse. I was very lucky that I sustain zero injury especially when I consider all of the objects that were inside with me.
I'm sure the green 80 you saw on the flatbed was mine. At this point I will be on the look out for a cheap 80,93-94 preferably, that I can swap all my stuff over too.

Again man I'm glad you're ok.

I've been seeing A lot of 80s in the bay area for sale. It seems they are going way up in price these days!!! I was looking to get a second one but will need to save a little more cash for that.

I'll keep an eye out for some for you!

I appreciate the help. Thanks

Wow. That really sucks.

Glad you are ok.
Yes it sucks but I'm at work making money as I write this so I will be happy for that and just do what has to be done to get back out there.

Wow. I'm glad you are ok, but geezzzzz! That is a tough one to buff out.
Yes I agree. I will piss around with it to see if I can get it good enough strictly for Off road use until I find the right deal on an 80 that needs a good deal of work so I can use that body and frame to swap my mechanicals over too.

Really glad you are ok man. That could have easily been my whole family too! We had a great time sledding. I tried heading up a closed road to get closer to our normal spot, but the snow was deep! 3 feet plus in some spots like in your pics. about 250ft in i got stuck and had to winch out of a deep rut/ditch. We parked and hiked the rest of the way in.

But........., on the way home weather was nasty after sun down. I was driving really safe and slow about 20 mph and at times only 15. As I was coming to a bend careful not to steer/brake/gas abruptly, I felt it!. Told the wife and kids to hold on as the tuck drifted from our lane across the hwy and into the face of the mountain. luckily the snow bank was high enough that I was able to roll over/along it and redirect the truck back to our lane. After rebounding off the bank, I could still feel the lack of traction, so with no brake, no gas, and just light steering input I was able to roll us back into our lane and continue on our way.

And of corse after I got home I had to change my underwear. If I was in any of our other vehicles, I would have had major body damage. Thank GOD we made it out of that in one piece!!

Ah man that's terrible. I was just checking back to see how your wheeling went. Not what I was expecting :( Sorry about the truck but glad to hear you're not hurt. Snow wheeling scares me because you have such little control over a top-heavy truck.

@baldilocks, Man just wanted to say again I'm glad you made it out alive. We always see rigs rolled on here, and I don't think enough of us really let it sink in how much we, or our families, can lose in seconds. Hope you have a good Christmas and really glad you are still here to talk to us and go home to your family.....

First of all, thank you. I wish that everyone else on here showed the same high level of character and understanding that you do. Yes, I have thought many times how lucky I am to be alive. I sustained zero injury and for that I thank God. I am extremely disappointed because I just got into 80's less than two years ago and have spent countless dollars and hours bringing mine up to speed. I almost feel like just letting it sit for a long time but that isn't my modus operandi. Thanks again and Merry Christmas to your family.

I put out the word in the classifieds for what I need and deathvalleypaul, along with a couple others, responded. I'm pretty sure that Paul has exactly what I need which is a 94 straight frame and body including dash and all wiring minus drivetrain. I will go to SoCal and check it out after the holidays. Cheers!

Never understood the whole kick a guy when he's down attitude... How guys can jump on someone "after the fact" and dissect a situation to make them feel even worse.

"Thanks... Like I didn't know that already" you feel like saying...

Let us all know how we can help bring the rig back to trail ready status so we can all roll on ASAP!

Another amazing mud member! No one kicked me over this. I was making a general statement about attitudes I have come across here and other sites. Actually, Mud is a high classed site compared to some others I have visited. Thank you for the offer of help.
The rain quit so I was just out there to uncover it to allow air flow to dry it out. It actually don't look so bad. I think the driver A-pillar it the only one bent. I don't really want to drive around in a half ass looking rig tho. LOL

Can you make it into a chop n bob project?

Might be a convertible by the sounds of it, but I'd have fun with the body considering "why not"...

Who has a porta power unit and or experience straighten this kind of mess out. I think the driver A-pillar is the only one bent. I see a lot of guys chopping these rigs up but who can actually weld a new roof or section of roof on after damage is cut out? This is beyond my pay grade and experience.
