The snow should be prime for a snow adventure this weekend. Yes, I know it's short notice but the weather gives short notice too. My thought is to run Mormon Emigrant trail sly park to hwy 88 if it's passable.
I just saw on FB that Uncle Toms Cabin is having a toy run put on by a jeep club. Perhaps you would be interested in going up there to drop off a toy. Just another possibility.

Would love to join, Sunday is out for me. I need to rebuild the starter in my '80, but I can maybe do that another weekend? Earlier in the day is much better than later, I have commitments from the evening on.

So Saturday is best for you? Be aware that this is intended to be an all day event u less you cut out early and trek home alone.

Yep, sat is definitely best for me, but I totally understand if I'm in the minority on that one. I do have family commitments in the Cameron Park area on sat starting ~430pm. I haven't done this run before, so not sure how much time to plan for it? Would love to make it though if the timing works out. If not, I can shoot for the next one!

Saturday should be the better day weather-wise, it's supposed to be pretty stormy in the high country on Sunday, when I'm supposed to be at Kirkwood.

:bang:

I wish I could meet up with you guys, but I already have plans for Saturday too.

Going to try and take the whole gang to the abandoned Iron Mountain Ski Resort. We had a great time there last year sledding with the kids. Thanks for the tag. Hopefully another time soon!

I had no idea that was abandoned? My high-school GF's dad was a part-owner of that resort years ago, he sold his stake off when the gov't was pushing some unfeasible requirements on them to remain open; wheel-chair ramps on the lifts is the only one I remember......

Ok, we can make Saturday the day. I have taken a close look at he weather but surfpig said it is supposed to be pretty stormy on Sunday. Your family commitments are important understandably. Mormon Immagrant trail runs 25 miles from Sly PRk road to HWY 88. I have no idea how deep the snow is up toward 88, it may not be doable. Whatever the day has for use, you can certainly head for home anytime.

Wish you could make it but it's early in the season so I'm sure we can do this again. Merry Christmas.

It's early yet so I'm sure we can put together another snow trip this winter. Enjoy.

Just got the diff gears installed and I'm doing the break-in, count me out till a month from now. And I have surgery on Monday as well.

Good luck and we will definitely do it again.

Is there a traditional meet-up spot? What time do you want to get together?

So far it's only you and I. The meeting spot will depend on where most of us are coming from. I'm in Vacaville so I can meet guys along he way. I found out that the gate is locked at HWY 88 so a through run is impossible. I have only made it to the end a couple times anyway bc of deep snow. Not sure how deep it is at that elevation now. A trip to Uncle toms cabin on Wentworth springs road out of Georgetown is a possibility also. FYI, I plan to make a day of it and it looks like you need to bug out pretty early in order to fulfill family obligations. But thats up to you.

Sounds like a lot of conflicts, should we bin for another time?

As far as conflict, I don't see a lot interest. I figured that once
Those who want to go chimed in we could set up a time and place to meet based on the groups consensus. The fact that you have to be home so early would make a rushed day for you. I will go tomorrow regardless but I will definitely post up another run later in the winter.

Thanks guys, but we have plans for the weekend already :/

Let's try this again after the holidays maybe?!!

Wish we could make it, let's deff plan something out after the holidays

My wife and I went alone and decided to go to uncle toms cabin to check out the toy drive and make a donation. Lots of people there but we hung out only a short time and off we went looking for trouble. Found our selves "Cruising" through Wentworth springs and on up the trail toward Ellis creek when we were cock blocked by a group of yuppies in 8 landrovers and man were they having issues. Oh, I forgot about the cool guy with them who was in an early bronco. Actually I met a few of theses guys last year about this time as we attempted signal peak in the snow. That did not work out so well.
Anyway these guys were a little more anilytical than us, if that's possible, and they simply were not having a good go of it. We got no further than Post Pile when one of them broke a CV. Game over! We basically did a lot of bullshitting while they winched and winched and .... Lol By then it was 3pm so we turned around. They camped out and the wife and I headed home through Georgetown. As I reflected on the day I could not help but laugh at the irony of winding up literally stuck in the middle of a group of landrovers when all I really wanted to do was meet some brothers from Mud and roll thunder with a badass group of 80's! LOL We will make it happen later on but not too soon as I am about to strip my rig for Monstaliner and bumper and slider refinishing and the addition of rear quarter armor to my 4X4Labs bumper. Will be down a month or so. Sorry, no pics worth posting. Use your imagination, a green 80 showing up a group of yuppy mobiles. :flipoff2:
