Just picked up my front grill today from Line-X. Great results and I like it. Much better than sanding/prepping, then rattle can'n it, just to have it chip in a few months.

Dropped it off at their shop at 9 am Tues morning, and it was ready by 12. I decided to leave it overnight to fully cure.

All for $46.70

yup, I had mine done with the sides right after I got the truck repainted. That job wasnt under $50.

looks good, my only issue with line-x or similar products is they fade over time.

I know Rhino-lining makes a product that they put in when they spray now (Costs extra) so that it doesn't fade.

I guess it depends on what your time is worth...

For about $7 you can get a can of spray-on PlastiDip at HomeDespot. Flexible rubberized coating that works great on trim.

I've had a mesh grille coated with this since '04 on a sedan and put over 60k miles on it. Everyone else who bought the PC'd ones p!ss and moan about dings and flaking, not a bit of aluminum showing through on mine and I didn't even prime it. I did just the surround of my LC grille with this not too long ago and no complaints yet.

I expect you'd get the same results from SEM bumper coat at any autobody supply place -- for double the cost.

I believe everyone's own time is precious to them. If people want to do it, good. I'm not loosing any sleep if they don't.

I considered PlastiDip, and researched that it can peel. A few friends use it on their grills, notably SAAB and Volkswagen guys, and have had varied results. YMMV. The finish on PlastiDip is a smooth one, whereas my Line-X has a bit of grit to it. This is more suitable to the conditions I drive in, with A LOT of highway miles which equates to tons of rock chips.
That said, I didn't feel like having to run to the store to grab a can to do some minor touch-ups. I just wanted to do it once, and be done with it. With Line-X's lifetime warranty on their spray-on, IMO I think it's a great investment.

But the sombrero....

Ha...I've got plans for the sombrero.
