I needed a new rear upper hatch due to the original one rusting out. I've always wanted to black out my emblems and was the perfect time to do so.

I chose to Plasti-Dip my emblems since I've heard a lot of good things about it. I didn't prep the surface other than cleaning with alcohol. I did a total of 5 coats on all emblems. The hardest part was applying the 3M emblem tape, cutting and puzzling the pieces on the backs just right took a lil bit of time.

All in all, about $20 for the emblems.

Nice work with the plasti dip and the 3M tape. What did you paint the front grill with?

Thanks. I had my front grill painted with Line-X. You can find details in post #44 in this thread with before/after pics, and side by side with a factory black/chrome grill.
To report, the Line-X has held up great against all the acidic bug guts. Prior to the Line-X, i had the grill painted Rustoleum matte black, and the discoloration caused from bug guts made the black paint look like azz. I'm very happy with my current grill.

Looks good. Any particular paint?

These. I ended up going with the darker color. I tried a 2 tone but ended up going with the one color look. You can see te shade difference. I used the can on the right. 3/4th of it on each side.

Cool and thanks! Next question: Do the trim pieces snap in and out? The trim on my 80 was glue-taped on with only a few snaps to anchor it. Any glue backing on the 100 series trim?

Slide note cards between the body and molding.

and the other thing I re-finished. That bumper had little paint.

@anthonycds,

That (matte) grill of yours is one of the better ones I've seen. Not sure how it'd look on a white LC, but on yours, GREAT result!

Getting inspired to take care of some small chipping on plastic. So easy now when it's warmer (and drier) outside.

I also want to know how to get the trim off a 100 series but when every ou ask no one seems to give you an answer but tells you to slide card between the body and plastic. How do you remove the trip is what we want to know if anyone has an answer.

The clips are non-reusable. You can remove it, but you wont have a way to get it back on. I have tried. The white clips break the trim and it won't sit flush. The best way to do this is tape it off. Even if you did get new clips, the trims retainers would be snapped and it would flop around. Like I said, I tried several times, no luck.

you really need to give up on the rear bumper. Seriously. Its like asking about tire size. Its done.

Thanks. I think my grill would look great on a white 100. I say go for it!
