In previous post I asked about trails I could take the family with older 100. I just got home this weekend with our new 2006. Tomorrow tires being replaced with GY Duratracs 275/70/18's which are 33.2 or 33.1 tall.

Can someone with exeperience with similair profile recommend good family trail. I dont plan on serious rock climbing but want to take kids and wife to some cool stuff!

Thanks

I have never been to Moab, and have only ridden with a member while out in Colorado Springs, so I am no professional with the western trails. But we all came from stock 100's. With the correct tires, the right line, you will be fine. I would advise adding sliders, if this is your first time out with the 100, which is a very large vehicle on trails (any trail really), a tire slip, or poor judgement of a small obstacle can do catastrophic damage and make sliders look cheap. Wheeling a 100 is like wheeling a bus, the approach angle is pretty good for a modern SUV, the break over is descent with no running boards, and the departure angle is terrible with the stock bumper and a trailer hitch, so don't "plop" the back end off a ledge, the stock suspension will compress and you will smack the rear bumper.

Wheel smart, safe, and make sure you have those doors protected! The 100 somehow grows 5 feet when you want to go over something!

Get sliders ASAP.

Would not even consider taking that '06 off road without sliders. It seems like a "hard core" mod' - one associated with a lift, winch, etc. I've made that mistake... twice. New Jeep GC Limited - crunched the rocker. Pristine Jeep GW... crunched the rocker.

My 2006 LC's first mod... sliders. Well, make that only mod ;)

Perfect, I had already planned on pulling the running boards and adding sliders this week.

Unfortunately my schedule didn't allow me to purchase the slee sliders I wanted in time. So it looks like just the very easy stuff, none the less we will have a ball seeing what we can.

It shall be the first of many trips west for sure! The kiddos spring break next week, I intend on having the rig built for next years cruise Moab and will get some education this year building up to it!

You don't NEED to do anything to your truck to have fun on a lot of trails in Moab. Adding sliders is a good recommendation though and will make you more comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to take a stock truck on a 4 and lower trail.

May I recommend Fins-n-Things, Chicken Corners, 3D, Tusher Tunnel. Fins would be at the top of my list for you. The major obstacles all have bypasses and it is one of the most fun trails out there, scenic too.

Any thing 4 or lowerer would be good.
