guys. While cleaning up my FJ40 this week, I noticed that my rear springs have the Mitsibushi "triangle/Diamond" symbol and the word Mitsibushi on the top leaf.

These some sort of retro-fit done by a previous owner or stock for a 76 model fj 40?

Did Toyota ever add/install Mitsibushe springs at any time?

Can you post pictures? I made some stencils from someone elses pix. Would like to see if yours are similiar or different...

Here is a photo of my driver's side front spring. This is the rear part-

Just moved and lugged the old set from my 74' to the new house... Same thing here. Somehow wrote it off as what the PO could find years ago as a replacement. Sounds like they are the original springs.

They were replaced almost two years ago with OME MED/HD set. So question becomes, are they worth anything??? Also have what appears to be the original steering stabilizer stut.

Thanks,
LR

Its Mitsubishi Heavy Industires. Founded in the late 1880’s and was originally Shipyards and heavy industrial Foundry. And now is Aircraft, forklifts , Industrial etc.

Not to be confused with Mitsubishi Motors which is a subsidiary car co. that was bailed out by Mitsu Heavy in the 1970s to become Mistsubishi Motors.

... and Asahi Glass makes the windows... also a Mitsubishi subsidiary. When I did a lot of photography i had medium format Pentax
cameras. Their lens were from Asahi Optical.
Not that long ago Mitsubishi was the only car manufacturer that produced every component in their cars through one of their subsidiaries.
I'm not sure there's anything they don't make. From food to missiles, airplanes to photographic film. Cars are just a small part

Hello,

I remember early model (pre-1988 or something) Pajeros had Toyota transmissions.

Juan

They also manufactured the A6M Zero

There is a video posted on this forum about the history of Toyota (Toyoda) and if I remember right Toyota owns all or part of Mitsubishi. I have a story about Mitsubishi. I am an old guy and can't help my self so bare with me. Back in the 80's my wife and I was listening to a show where young people were asked questions about geography and history. It was showing how little if anything they knew about these things. Being concerned parents we repeated some of the questions to our 7 year old son who was an avid reader (11-12 grade level). We was staying with him on questions like name a state that touches the Mississippi river and so on. Then we asked about Pearl harbor which hardly any kids knew about. When asked what comes to mind at the mention of Pearl Harbor my wiseass son says, "Mitsubishi". We were at a loss. When we asked him to explain he told us that was who made the planes that bombed Pearl harbor.
