I've been checking out military paints (like Aervoe) but everything seems to be really flat paint; any chance there's some satin or semi-gloss paints out there? I seem to recall that WWII-era paints weren't as flat as CARC-spec paint, does anyone have any experience with this? Looking for green or tan, must be in spray cans.

Thanks in advance!

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

CARC is what you like.....

I probably wasn't clear. I don't like the look of CARC, it's too flat, and I need something that is available in spray cans, I don't have a large enough compressor to paint in my garage. Looking for something that has a bit more gloss than CARC paint.

Hi Henry..

www.armyjeepparts.com carries the late WWII semi-gloss OD you spoke of. Available in either gallon or rattle cans.

Heres my rig with this paint...excuse the J***. I sprayed this with a Craftsman 5hp compressor and harbor freight gun, but i'v seen some rattle cans come out well. This is GCI paint and one of the best for Military resto's IMHO.

If you contact and talk to George tell him your referencing John's Cherokee, he'll know what shade you speak of.

Thanks, John!! That is a nice looking rig, BTW, love the setup!

Hey Exiled

This place Rapco Parts Company is in Bowie Texas so shipping might not be too bad. They have a lot of their selection available for $6 per spray can.

Also, the GCI paint mentioned previously is Gillespie Coatings and manufactured in Longview Texas. I am not sure if they will sell you any or not. I know they have the government contracts.
