I'm sorry about asking this; however, I want to know what I am getting into. Currently my Explorer is getting 14mpg with some mods. What is the best MPG I can expect from a 100 and with what mods?

Thanks

JOE

Mine...combined city and hwy is always right at 13.5mpg...not bad all things considered (my rig has got to be at or over 6K curb weight!). I have gotten 17.5mpg with it but that was cruizn at 55mph. Seems if you keep the highway rpm's at 2K you get decent (relative) mileage...start moving up from there and MPG goes down.

...And off-road...all bets are off:eek:

FYI: When it was pure stock it got me an additional 1.0-1.5 MPG.

With what's in my sig line, I get about 12 mpg 50/50 (city/highway). But if all highway, I'll see 12mpg at 75-80mph and maybe 14mpg if doing just 60-65mph. Wind resistance/speed has a huge effect on fuel mileage. I got 16mpg once.... when it was stock and all highway.

I see between 15-17 highway on 285's, mostly 15 in the city right now. No armor currently other than sliders.

How do you adjust mpg for 285s? Multiple by 1.05 or .95.

Bigger tires have less revs/mile so you would need to multiply your reading by the larger #, 1.05 or so. The Odo will be under-reporting mileage slightly.

I get 13-15mpg regardless of highway or city (correcting for the larger tire effect) ... I guess if I drove 55mph on the highway with the cruise control on and with a tailwind I might get 16mpg... but that's a dream.
