Wanted Mid-1979 FJ40 Emissions Equipment

I recently purchased a mid-1979 FJ40 that's been partially de-smogged (looks like it still has charcoal and EGR). I live outside Denver, CO, so I need to get the emissions squared away. Looking for air pump, rail, hoses, etc.

Edit: It does not have stock power steering.

No, there’s no power steering (I wish there was).

reason I asked was the stock air pump is smaller in 1979 and 1980 starting in 1981 it is the same thru 1987
you should be able to fit a later air pump which should be easier to source than the 79-80 model

Ah, that’s good to know. So the air pump on the 79-80 should be the same size as the 81-87? Also, are you saying that it could be pulled from a 60 series 2F (including up to the “87”)?

no, the 2 year 1979 and 1980 air pump has a smaller body,
the 1981-1987 has a larger body and will not interchange with the larger body

this is only relevant if you are replacing a current air pump or you have OEM power steering

starting from scratch without OEM power steering, you should be able to source the entire later setup, and not have fit issues
the later 1981-1987 had a longer run and is more available than the small 2 year run of pumps

or Matt can set you up with an earlier 1978 setup

The 79 emission computer is unique to 79.

I should have most of what you need. I’m already desmogged and have the removed components in storage. I’m getting ready to do an engine swap so can remove whatever’s left. My air pump is removed but gutted so can’t help with that component. I’m in north metro area.
