Has anyone ever heard of Kenda Klevar tires? found another thread on mud but I'm curious if anyone in the club has heard of them or ran them before? Eating up my general grabbers from Expedition Overland faster than I expected. Im thinking the pizza cutter will be a good combination of height and reduce the weight/work to fit larger tires. My current general weigh 66 lbs per tire and the Mickeys weigh 64 lbs per tire, Kendas are 73 lbs per tire. Update: I decided to just go for the Kenda Klevars mounted on Method 706's Im sure you will see my old wheels + tires on marketplace soon

I know the anything scout guys ran those Kendra’s for years though they recently switched to the general. Excited to see these mounted.

That’s good to hear, I wonder why they switched. The main thing I’m interested in seeing is if I need a bmc or if I rub swaybar. Feel like I’ll need a bmc but at only 10.5” wide I may not?

Curious your experience with the general grabbers . They seem like a good alternative to ko2's but I think the reality is , like with anything else, you get what you pay for. A little less cost up front seems to equal a little less lomgey.

Were they E rated ? What pressures did you run? I find my ko2s get chewed up pretty good too and wear kind of funny until I gave in and started running them at 45-50 . I now notice less cupping and weird wear patterns

They were E rated, I ran them at 35 although I think I should have run them at a higher pressure. I think the main issue was that they were sitting for a while. I didn't get them new, I got them from expedition overland guys, manufacture date from 7yrs ago. I also ran my K02s at 35 with no issues but much quieter. Not sure if I could really tell the difference between the two in terms of running trails, I think the general grabbers were nicer on washboard roads but don't think I noticed much else. Still waiting on my new tires to come in, think something funky happened with the shipping company, went from WI, to SD, back to WI. going to call on monday

Good info thanks. Yeah I called BFG recently and they sent me to a conversion chart for LT tire pressure to E.

To achieve the same load rating of your LT tires when switching to E, the pressure just go up. You may sacrifice a little ride quality but the tire seems to hold up longer and wear better. At least in my case paired with a 7k lb 100 series

I wonder if the grabbers were fresh , the newer style , and aired up more If they would hold up . I keep finding myself coming back on the KO2 as the best all around tire . I put mine through hell this past weekend I couldn't believe how tough the sidewall is
>> not positive but I THINK the k02 is one of the few tires with three ply sidewall but I may be wrong.

I have 33” e-load KO2, new tire brand/model for me and have been playing with psi this summer. noticeable difference between 35psi (comfy) and 41psi(feel every crack) riding around town.
Like to run them higher pressure to help avoid odd wear patterns as y’all mentioned.

Interested to see how you like the pizza cutter klevars @EthanR

@Mike NXP I dont know what other tires are 3 ply now-a-days but they cant be the only ones.
@geo5, I think the tirecalculator website told me to run 40psi, but 35 is comfy especially if you swap between washboard and pavement often, looking forward to the kenda klevars Ill update once I get them on, cant wait.

My first set of E-rated KO2's lastest 55k miles over 5 years on the LX470. Rotated all 5. Ran at 42-44 psi on road. Had plenty of tread left when I replaced them, but they were cracking pretty bad. I replaced them with another set of KO2s.

Good to know Matt and your endorsement of these tires says a lot.
I think I missed the boat on rotating all 5 but 3 plus yrs usage sounds awesome.

I probably would have gone with K02s again but they don’t offer them in a 35 pizza cutter ;( I don’t think they even offered them in a 255/85/17

Sorry for the thread hijack Ethan! What’s the tracking status of your wheels?

Called Midwest motors what’s up with the tires this morning, they were in Billings this morning, overnighting to Helena then local delivery sometime tomorrow afternoon. Super excited to get them on and ready for the big trip. Also just returned my loaner antenna and got my new one in the mail. I’m thinking I’m going to get up and flex out on Flathead pass Saturday afternoon see if there’s any major rubbing anywhere. Then I’d like to get one more good trail in on Sunday, I was thinking either north meadows, pipestone or Judith river (would be a long day). I would have gone out sometime this week but time flew by and next thing I know it’s Friday. But might be able to squeak another after work run next week, let me know your thoughts.

Just got the new wheels and tires on today after work, i have yet to take them for a drive but planning on Flathead tomorrow. Also got my new antenna on replacing the loaner from pat at right channel. But oh boy do 35s just look right

Just ran Flathead this morning, glad to say no rubbing and they are quite a bit quieter than the General grabber x3s, a smidge louder than K02s, I don’t have a re-gear and it feels fine on the road but I can understand why I would want to for better control on the trail
