My lc is a 98' and ever since I bought it about 6 months ago there has been a weird sound when accelerating that seems to happen in the same intervals of speed which makes me think it is a transmission issue. It also doesn't make the sound when I put in neutral which is another reason I am thinking transmission. the sound is a light metallic sound and not like a clunk... could it be the clutch? Also, it got worse after recently towing a 21ft boat and I need to get it fixed asap... made it more sluggish off road!
