Anyone have feedback on metal valve stems versus rubber ones for my 62 with 35 x 12.5 x 15's?

ok, thanks. im not one for the bling...

Metal are fine for on the road, but I break the metal ones off-road. I stay with rubber valvestems now.

Correct...best to have rubber off road.

I'd say that it really depends on where the stem hole in the wheels is located. Some wheels, though not many, have the hole up in a fairly protected part of the wheel. Others have the hole where rocks, roots, and what-not can easily grab and tear them off.

4wheelparts gave me some metal booties to slip over the rubber stems when I recently purchased new meats... I doubt the slip-ons serve any purpose other than looking 'purdy'. :p

It has been suggested that welding a piece of steel tubing onto such a rim, around the valve stem, would protect it from damage.

I've seen pictures of that done on mud trucks out of the mid-west and up in the PNW.
