I am not really sure...was the change in door styles in 1975?. The owner of the door shells says they came off of a '73 which is the same year as my FJ. Would these be the thin doors that are flush with the body and would not interfere with the roll cage?

Here is a pic of the door shells.

Those are the early model doors which mean they are thinner and are flush with the body, however it is still a good idea to have the doors when you do the install for fitment. Like other people have mentioned if you do not place the A pillar properly your window crank won't work or you might not even be able to close the door at all.

You can find our roll cage install guide on our other site Install

We will slowly be using our other site for news updates, install guides and videos as we get a chance to do so.

The link in the page above is 404 Error. I didn't see it on your site anywhere else. Starting this project Friday. I did receive the paper instructions with photos that shipped with the cage. Is there any difference? Thanks.

We installed the rear support plates and made another set using mt's plates as templates to go under the wheel well. Drilled the holes and bolted the sammich together. We then TACKED the b and c pillars in place along with the overhead b-c tubes.

Unbolted everything and took the rear part of the cage out to finish weld and add the outside b-c tubes. It all went back in and was bolted in place before lining up the front section. To figure out the a-b pillars you have to take into account the dash pad, window cranks, and foot/clutch clearance. I have early doors so we just put the mounting plate for the a pillar as close to the edge of the floor/firewall as we could while still being able to remove the cage.

Thats another thing to keep in mind, you may need to take this thing out at some point so leave enough room....

Made copies of the 2 a pillar mounting plates to throw underneath the floor just like the rear plates. The rest of the cage isnt bad after the a's are tacked in. Some of the coping is a bitch (hip tubes, b-a brace tubes) though if you dont have the right tools (I dont lol).

Good luck man.

I didn't put the door and now the window crank knob hits it by 1/4 and it makes me so mad
Anyone else have this problem, or more importantly an installation solution? Shop is mocking mine up and reports the cranks might hit bar when everything else looks good.

Hopefully someone will chime in on this for you since it was 10 years since it was active.

What shop are you using in Austin?

Thanks,
Ian

Always install cages with the doors on the truck. Confirm inboard fit and yes clearing the early style window cranks. Everything can be adjusted at the time of the install. OR one can order a pre-built from us that has everything placed to clear it all. Any questions on installing a cage, reach out to us directly at @metaltech4x4.com
