Bought me an 87 FJ60 about a month ago and have become an instant addict. It goes in the shop tomorrow for an OME Lift and new wheels/tires. I also ordered a new H55 from American Toyota. All said, I would like to join a cruiser club so I can extract some good information from some veteran owners and hopefully turn into a future contributor. Thanks.
Come to our next meeting, as of now its on the 17th of April. Keep an eye here for final details. We can take care of membership stuff there, will be easier.
If you have questions between now and then, feel free to ask!
welcome! another person with the "problem"? it must be in the water... luckily there are some standup fellas in this group to help you through your "rehab" which involves lots of grease and dirt, hopefully not mixed. see you at the meeting.
If it's not too late, cancel the appointement with 'the shop' and wait a few weeks until you can convince someone in the club to help you do it for beer and pizza. You could probably get Onur to do it for just a pack of smokes. It will cost less and you'll learn more. Welcome (That's the official welcome salute)
You'll be in good company here! We look forward to meeting you. Lots of Cruiser and Toyota expertise with this group. You'll figure out very quickly that Cruiser Dan at American Toyota (parts manager/shaman) gives a great discount for club members. It comes in very handy.
You all sound like a good crowd. The FJ is already in the shop for the lift, so it is going to cost me the monetary equivalent of many beers and pizzas. I may seek some good input on the H55 install though?
As for the meeting, my daughter had to go out of town for the next month. The heartbroken mom is requiring me to go with her on weekend visits for the next month. That kind of scraps my plan for th 17th meeting. Any other time, I have nothing to do, go figure. I will try like heck for the May meeting as I want to get involved. In the interim, I will fill out the membership application and send in a check.
Thanks again for all the hospitality. I will post a pic when I get the FJ back.
We are planning for the May meeting at our house on Saturday, May 8th, the next weekend after Cruise Moab. We will have directions to our house on the HDC website before the meeting. Hope to see you there!
Sorry for the rudeness. My name is actually Rob. I grew up in Virginia Beach, VA and took a transfer from TN to NM with the Department of Energy. I have lived here with my wife and two teenaged daughters for about 4 years.
Here is my 1987 FJ60 with my new OME and 15x8's with 33x12.50 tires. Next up is the install of my H55 followed by a list that includes bumpers, winch, and roof rack.

Your 60 is absolutely gorgeous. It is screaming "spend a lot of money on a diesel conversion, please."
I'll throw the offer out there for you, in case you've missed it: I drive from the Denver area at least once a month, so if you need bumpers and whatnot moved down to the Albuquerque area, the ride is there. There are a lot more used ARB bumpers up here in the Denver area than there are in NM (not that it's a lot, but it's at least unheard of).
I can't wait to check out your 60. I also have problems making it to meetings and whatnot--my schedule simply sucks.
Thanks for the idea of the 12ht (haha). Who knows I may go that route? As for the bumpers, I want a basic set up that includes a winch platform on the front and a tire swing out in the rear. I am also searching for a nice roof rack. If you find any good deals, let me know. I can wire you the cash. Thanks.
