Hi Guys
I just about have my axle completely torn down. I want to have the axle media blasted. I am wondering if I could also have the third member blaster w/o removing the guts (Pinion & Ring Gear, Carrier, etc..)? I don’t have the tools (or probably the patience) required to disassemble, (more importantly reassemble) the third member. I am thinking that I could make something to protect the guts from the media. My thought is a piece of plywood with a hole cut in it, and sit the third member over the hole so the guts are one the other side. Not sure what to do on the pinion flange side. Any suggestion? Anyone ever done this?
Also have a realated.... I need to replace the seal on the pinion flange? When replacing that seal, do I need to remove the pinion & the pinion preload spacers (Really dont want to get into that)? Or can the flange be removed and provide access to the seal without having to dissasemble the pinion?
