May have a new shock option soon!

Talked with Mike for a few minutes. I have a invoice sitting in my PayPal account from him. I think I'm going to pull the trigger and order the shocks. I need new ones anyways, may as well get them on before GSMTR.

Got them installed. I need a few more days to be able to speak about the ride. But just around the block the truck feels brand new. They are 2.5" longer than the Bilsteins. I had to use the OEM bottle jack to compress them in order to bolt in, the UCA (OEM) is very close to the shock body at full droop but I do not think that will be a issue. Also, the reservoir line could be about 6" shorter. I think I am going to re-route these into the engine bay. It's about 18" of line. So it will reach the inner fender well. The shaft is twice the side of the Bilsteins. I am on a 1" lift, I was topping out the Bilsteins going over speed tables at 25MPH (they were 35MPH tables), I was getting to 40MPH+ with no topping out or negative feedback, I had to slow down due to my neighborhood. Torque steer is gone, and body roll is significantly decreased. I'll take some better pictures early next week when it stops raining. We are going to have ~5-6" this weekend. As for time to install, roughly 30 minutes per side start to finish.

Oh great! This pops up after I place my order on kings with a 2-5 week lead time!!!

I Never saw this thread until now, I may just cancel my kings and go with these. Considering that these cost less than the bottom of the line radflos.... They'll be getting a call from me soon

With what little miles I have on the Pro Fenders, I could not imagine another $600 making the ride any better. Time will tell about the longevity of the product, but for now I give them two thumbs up. I would of given anything two thumbs up. I pulled my Bilsteins 4600's and I could compress them with one hand and the shock on the ground. There was oil spurting out of the bottom seal. I'll be able to post a much better review after my next wheeling trip. I have to move the resovior. They are sitting ducks right now and really don't like how they look. It was a quick install so I used any place to mount them. As stated before they will be move into the engine bay. They are side specific, which was kind of unique. I didn't have any time to break out the drill or dremel, so I will be remounting them soon. FYI, the line is very stiff and cannot flex very much, mounting them on the ARB brackets was the only option I had today. The weather was moving in quick, and with 2 hours of sleep...I didn't put much thought into it. The ride was so bad with the Bilsteins that I couldn't take it anymore. I plan on riveting the mounting plate to the inner fender well so they stay out of the dirt as much as possible. They also came with pretty blue covers, I did not use them. I am rethinking that...I think protecting the shaft may be more important than the cool factor and showing off the diameter of the shaft and keeping them clean (looking). The big blue slinky thing looks pretty bad, but having to shell out the cash for another pair of shocks isn't cool either. Profender has been around for almost 3 decades, companies don't stay in business for 30 years making bad products. I have a feeling these will become very popular in the 100 Series crowd.

I know that kings have the best ride for oem replacement but they also cost an arm and a leg for an overkill setup that also cost more to rebuild than the competition. The radflos are decent, but the inherent issues of the mechanical stopper and the few incidents of overly long shock bodies documented by the members keep me from confidently ordering from them. I also had an issue with the shock body length of radflos on my xterra....

I like fox, but they don't seem to make a direct replacement for our 100's. and so pro fender fits in. At 200 a shock its worth the gamble as long the fit is good. Revalvjng isn't a big issue and I figure rebuilding them would also be on the cheap...

Have you cycled the suspension to check for clearances? And thanks again for posting this up

Also did you get the compressed and extended dimensions by chance?

I sent them an email. Hopefully they'll be open tomorrow.

I have only cycled on down travel, the UCA is very close to the shock body. They appear to allow more up travel as well. Which may be a problem for those with 35's. If the rain lets up tomorrow I will bolt over to 4WP and hop on the RTI ramp and see how they perform. I do mainly low speed obstacles, so despite the 2" of addition down travel with stock UCA's, I won't be moving fast enough to "shock" or "blow" anything. The Pro Fender shock was about 1" too long to install even with the lower shock mount un-bolted. This makes me a bit concerned since the shock isn't stopping down travel, it's the ball joints and CV axle that are. I may be considering limiting straps. I have to get some facts written in concrete, this is speculation at this point. All things considered, for less than $200 per corner it's worth it IMO, and limiting straps are not expensive.

SOL! Fronts are sold out. 3 week lead time. I don' t have the patience for these kind of wait periods.....

Fox is in the process of releasing a line of pro-series shocks for the 100 series. These are the prototypes that I've had on my Land Cruiser for nearly a year and they have been awesome. They will be at Overland Expo and the shocks should retail at about $130 each.

That is exactly what I've been waiting for. A rebuildable cheap shock made by a reputable company. The aluminum bodied fox have been getting great reviews. Where can I get a set of these??!!!

Do you have a part number on the fox and how's your impression on valving? Also noticed you have the tc uca's. no shock topping out on those? One more, do you have the dimensions if you don't have the part number?

I just gave a call to offroad warehouse and hopefully they'll have the answer by Monday. Just sucks driving around on a blown front shock right now ....

RB4638, What did you run prior to the Fox shocks, and how do they compare?

I'm sure if you contacted them directly they would be able to help you. I know for sure that they will be releasing them to the general public soon and will have a part number. I have had these shocks on for nearly a year and have had no issues. I really think that unless you are running the Baja 500 you don't need a reservoir shock. These have served me well from Moab to Death Valley and the Sierras. As soon as I hear word on a part number I'll post something here.
