Here is the latest and greatest from Terry with the USFS. I am requesting 50 more bales for our trail alone with about 150 stakes to finish ours. We also need to look at redoing our bridge here soon also. The cable has broken on the one side. Seen it last workday.

Hi Everyone – For the May 18th work weekend I’d like to focus on finishing up the installation of the straw bales. I won’t be working on that weekend as I’ll just be getting home from Asheville. Either Pete, Jeff or De will be meeting with you all at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp.

CORE – Dutch John Trail – If you’re coming up for this work weekend let me know asap so I can get the supplies of cable and logs together for you to repair the corduroy log crossings. I haven’t had a chance to get the logs or cable yet and if you’re coming up for May 18th I’ll get them next week so they’re here in time.

For the rest of the clubs and trails the general plan will be to continue with the installation of straw bales and clearing and brushing back of the trails and picking up trash. I’m getting more straw bales delivered on May 16 or 17th to the pole shed at the Arrowhead Campground spray field. If you have pickup trucks and trailers that can haul the straw to the trailheads and onto the trails please bring them. Also, if anyone is chainsaw certified and has their equipment and protective gear and can make it this work day please let me know and I’ll let you know what trails might need your attention. Meet 9 am at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp.

Please let me know what clubs and about how many members will be coming up for the May 18th work weekend so I can coordinate with our FS folks. I’ll probably have them bring their chainsaws too so if there are hazard trees or standing trees that need to be taken down I’ll have them do it.

Pete, Jeff, Rodney & De – Please let me know of your availability to work with the OHV volunteers on May 18th. Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.

Thanks a lot everyone. I appreciate your help. Bye - Terry

Not sure yet.... got 3 family birthday's this month including my wifes..... will be a game time decision for me.

Same way, postponed mine and Ella's birthday party for the extended family to come up from Wilmington to this weekend, so I could go to the Truck Show...

I can be there...

It's looking like I'll be able to attend. And its probable that Burt will be joining me to show off a little.

I am a maybe. Don't have anything right now, but I have to check with the "boss" before I can commit

Here is the final word for the workday. I am going to try and bring my new to me trailer for this to carry straw down our trail.

Hi Everyone – I’m sorry I didn’t get this our earlier, but I had sent out the general work details for this upcoming Saturday, May 18th and was out in the field a lot last week.

Meet De Holmes at the Uwharrie Hunt Camp at 9 am on Saturday. Make sure to tell your folks to bring water, lunch, work gloves, boots, and appropriate clothes for doing the work. The 2 main projects this weekend are Dutch John Trail with CORE fixing corduroy crossings and straw bale installation. De will be working directly with CORE this weekend. The logs, cable, straw bales & stakes will be out at the Arrowhead CG spray field. The cable will be on a spool (I believe) so we’ll need someone that can haul the cable on their truck or rig to work with CORE and De. We don’t want cut the cable before we get to the sites because we might be too short. Also, the logs won’t have their holes drilled until on site to make sure that they’ll line up. Pete warned me about issues they’ve had in the past with drilling the holes ahead of time. De will have the drills & bits, cable clamps, wrenches, sledge hammers, cable cutter, etc. to work on the Dutch John Trail.

The other project that you’ll be working on this weekend is continuing the installation of straw bale in the tail ditches on the rest of the trails for whatever clubs are able to come up this weekend. Make sure to bring sledge hammers for installing the straw bales. Again if you have a truck or a trail trailer that can be used to haul the straw bales & stakes out onto the trails please bring them on Saturday.

Continued trash pickup and installing diamonds is good too.

Thanks a lot everyone. I appreciate your help on the trails.

De & Pete – Please get the cable out to the spray field by Friday so it’s there already to be put on the volunteer trucks / trailers. I’m calling Montgomery Farm & Garden & Central Lumber today to get the straw bales & stakes ordered and set up the delivery to Arrowhead CG. I’ll work with Janet to have her unlock the gate for the deliveries. Thanks.

De – Take the following tools for this weekend – drill and bits for the corduroy log crossings, cable cutter & small & large sledge hammers, cable clamps & wrenches. Also, I’ll give you a call this week to let you know where to find the blank volunteer sign-up sheets & the day passes to use for the volunteers. Make sure to get the volunteers to sign up on Saturday and then give me the sign-up sheets next Monday. Thanks a lot for working this Saturday. I appreciate it. Bye – Terry

Looks like I should be able to make it for the first half of the day or so...... straw bales on our trail sounds good to me as I've nicked up my knee and can't do any real heavy lifting on it right now.

Anyone from RTP area going? If so, need to a ride there for an intake manifold and a ride home for a 3rd member. Ice cold beers in it for anyone who can accommodate - we're headed south after our Ctown visit got postponed from last month so won't be able to be there :(

Ditto for me. Somehow Scott Clark shipped David's brake lines to my house  and he's thinking of finishing up this weekend. I'm heading southeast to Wilm.
