back to this topic...

need to replace the OEM's (Dunlop Grantrek AT20s 275/60/18) on my wife's new-to-us '07 100. the truck will be used around town primarily, but also for a lot of trips to the Sierras in winter and the occasional fire road excursion... for now anyway.

given that, and the fact that i want to bump the height (the truck is stock and will remain so for the foreseeable future), which size would be best?

275/65/18? 275/70/18? 275/75/18?

just concerned about ABS/VSC, rubbing, etc. had a VSC problem on a Sequoia previously.

thanks all you cruiserphiles.

I am running the 275/70-18 BFG AT's on our 04 and no problems.I like the extra sidewall height and no running boards.

the truck does have the runners, but that is the size i'm considering.

btw, i'm in Scotts Valley. if you ever see a white D110 driving around, give a wave.

Hey GriffSC,what year is your hundy? And do you mean a Wht. LR Defender 110? Those trucks are cool,I have always liked the De90's!
Back to subject,If you would like to take a look at the tires on our 100,PM me you PH.# and I will give ya a call.

hey, john. the 100 is an '07. and, yes, it's a Defender. been a rover guy for years (and previously owned a D90), but we own two yotas, too.

yeah, wouldn't mind checking out the tires on your 100. at this point, i'm leaning toward 275/65/18s, and may go with BFG ATs - have had a lot of BFGs in the past and have the KM2s on my D110, so i trust the brand. we'll see though...

Until the sponsorship dollars start rolling in, the white letters go inside!!!

What kind of differences in performance did you guys notice with the larger tires?
How much worse is the fuel economy?

Axeman,

No big deal to go up from a tire that is just a little bigger than 31" to a tire that is just smaller than 33". I went from the stock size to BFG KO2 in 285 65 18 on my 2007 100 Series with AHC and no lift. Drives fine and does not rub in fenderwell. I did see a decrease in my mileage (from crappy to s***ty or maybe 14-15mpg on the highway to around 13mpg, with city driving in the 11 mpg range. Still much more confident on dirt roads and handle pretty well on snow and rain. Had a dedicated set of Blizzak snow tires on before, but always worried that they would not take the abuse of hunting trips. When I had the tires swapped out, had slow leaks in all four Blizzaks.

Buena suerte,

T-Bro

What about 285/75 with 18 inch wheels on 2004 LC(no lift)? My cruiser has 18 inch wheels (currently 275/65/18)

285/75R18 ≠ 285/65R18

285/75R18 is a 35" tire and will not work well without additional mods.
