The Eastwood looks similar to mine. I think I have a few more dies. Mine is a S.U.R.R kit. I have had it for over 12 years and it does a great job everytime. One of my techs has a hand held like the one you posted that does a good job when working on the car if you need to splice a line together using a union. Most of my stuff at home, I just make a whole new line.

Working on a lot if little things this weekend. I got lucky on the T-case shifter. I bought twin sticks years ago. Not sure what kit I got, but it is missing parts for this. I cleaned and installed the stock 60 series shifter. Made. 1/4" adjustment to the linkage and it fits great! I need to install the shifter boot , but I am going to run it. It does not have the shift guard on it sho I have 2 low.

My test drive did get cut short today due to rain, but I did get up to the shop and flexed it out. Close in the rear and will need to trim or install my Metal Tech fenders in the front. Nice having a rollback!

Also got out on the highway and ran 65-70 mph no problem.

I'd try to get ahold of one 35x10.5 Kanati mud hog on the an FJ40 steelie, they might just be narrow enough to tuck?

This thing is absolutely perfect. Great work. This is the ideal 40 for most of us!

Thank you for the kind words.

I am a fat tire guy and I want some width for stability. I read a long time ago, for every inch you go up, you must go the same in width to keep it stable. Even with the 3" wider axles, I can tell the difference. With the wider tires, it helps more. No offence to Kanati tires, I know Maxxis, and the durability of them from on the road driving to off road abuse. The Razr Mt 772 is a great tire, has thick sidewalls and the traction is top notch for off road. Now they do sing going down the highway, but nothing like the SX swampers I have run in the past. I have balancing beads in them and did not notice any vibrations at 70 mph. I figure I am close to 12" wider than a stock 40, so it should sidehill great.

Soooo I searched the web and Mud trying to see what people have done on trimming front fenders and I found some "old car guy" tricks. I taped off 1 1/2"'s and plan to trim that out and try to keep the OE 40 look if possible rather than a flat fender.

I am refurbishing a winch for another project and made up some new battery cables. They are so nice, I may swap them with mine and use the old ones on it 😊

Do you plan to keep a lip on it? I think part of what makes cut fenders look bad or at least unfinished is not having a lip on them.

I am heading to the hardware store today. thoughts are to get some 1/4 steel rod and shape it to the lip. This will give it a small curve and should not cut the tire if it does touch. It will also add some strength to it.

Could also do a home version of this

I have this kit, still in the box.

I really want a inner fender to keep mud out. Living on the East Coast, we do see some of that. I have a few weeks to get it done before SAS, I also have some more work to do on some other rigs going. Installed an ARB in the rear of another 40 and some other things this weekend. Gotta get these VA boys ready for the event! I also have to go over my gooseneck trailer and install new tires before we leave. I am towing two out.

I'm aware of the metal tech tube fenders,

but when I was clearancing the first 40 I built, before I knew much about them, I was envisioning a way to raise the stock fender top by cutting into the apron just to keep the stock look and have more vertical the way that kit does.
I thought it was cool that this kid exists now although it is pricey.
