My new-to-me 2018 LX570 has lights built into the bottom of the driver and passenger doors that illuminate the ground when the doors are opened.

Nice feature.

However, my lights have something built in that filters the light and causes "Treasure Coast Lexus" (must have been the dealership that sold the car new) to be shown on the ground.

Clever, but not a nice feature. IMHO.

I pulled the drivers side light fixture out of the door and couldn't see anything easily removable. Is this common? Similar to dealers adding a license plate holder with their logo??

How do I remove this?

Thanks,

Bob

Wtf

At what point do we get to the movie minority report where they just beam personalized-via-retinal-scan ads directly into our eyeballs

You can get these generic lights with whatever logo etc all over ebay and aliexrpress for about any manufacturer you want.
Looks like the dealer ordered some customized ones as free advertising.

2x LED Laser Projector Door Step Ghost Shadow Lights Logo For Lexus LS ES IS LX | eBay

If you take it apart you can probably remove the filter in the round projector and get rid of the hologram but getting oem light housings back in would probably be my first choice.

You're probably right. Wonder what Lexus would charge for stock OEM lights?

This is why every time I buy a vehicle from a dealership, I put in big letters on the sales contract:

"ALL DEALER LOGOS AND BADGING TO BE REMOVED FROM VEHICLE PRIOR TO FINAL DELIVERY"

They don't like it? I start putting my coat on to leave.

Next time...

Over the top obnoxious and mean advertising. Ruins the puddle light.

Holy crap!

That is easily the most intrusive dealer interference I have ever seen. :bang:

I’d wager that if Lexus corporate knew they were doing that, they would not be thrilled...but I guess dealers can do stuff like that.

From a purely geeked out standpoint, it is an interesting idea… But utterly ridiculous to impose on a customer’s truck.

Hmmmm...Does Lexus have a telephone customer service?

Do you know? I bet it was a dealer demo or service loaner. I can’t imagine a dealer doing that for any other reason.

Would toyota sue me if I made some TRD PRO lenses and put them on ebay for the 4Runner and Tacoma crowd?

Oh wow, and this is reason 341 why I don't like dealers. This is the most obnoxious thing I've ever seen.

I don’t know, but if you designed them to shine from the “Trail Rated” badge stuck on these...you might get some takers...

Hipsters would love it...haha

Just imagine all the Instagram photos of “Trail Rated”...projected onto gravelly roads, etc. :hillbilly:
