There is a 570 on here or maybe expedition portal that runs 37s, silver I believe with an awesome looking bumper.. can't find the thread but maybe worth trying to locate...

Ok People, there is no time better than now. My Calendar has cleared up due to this Quarantine. My nights and weekends are wide open and the Lexus is not needed by the household. LET'S DO THIS!!!!

Started by disassembling the bumper cover. Kodo's to Lexus on making the removal soo freakin easy. A bunch of plastic fasteners, a couple of screws and only ONE electrical attachement that feeds power to everything inside that bumper cover. Genius by Lexus. The headlight washer fluid hose comes off super easy as well.

I moved the crashbar and the brackets that hold it. I need them off for that sweet approach angle.

Next was the coardboard mock up. I bought these boards from the dollar store that are made for arts and crafts, they have a bit more heft to them. I had to use regular cardboard for the middle piece since the others weren't wide enought.

I started by making the mounting brackets for the bumper (those will likely be out of 1/4" steel). Sorry i didn't get good shots of them alone but you can see the idea.
I thought about making the bumper protrude a little more to house a bullbar but I decided against having a big chin for their sake. Plus I dont want to mess with the view lines of the radar cruiser control. I am really happy with how the approach angle is looking.

You mention that you don't need a winch (yet) - but I'd strongly suggest that you at least make sure there is room behind that bumper to mount a winch even if you don't mount one. It would be a pity to go through all that work just to have to start over when you realize that you should have mounted a winch in the first place. ;)

Design looks good so far!

Some similar to pattern after

Looking good in the planning phases!

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I do plan on making sure there is enough room for a winch. I'll make a YouTube video to discuss all the decisions I made during the design process.

grinchy, I wanted to stay away from the flat across the top design. Both those examples have that in their design. It comes down to personal taste so I tried to model mine very close to the CBI offroad 200 series bumper i showed in early posts in this thread.

I really like the CBI design language in general. Their latest Tacoma bumpers look amazing.

Great idea on the YouTube video, I think you will need more than one though. Show us all the steps!

This is my favorite YouTube channel right now: Sampson Boat Co

Sampson Boat Co. Watch a few, I think his videos are fascinating. He is very careful to talk about why he is doing each step. Maybe try to achieve this same thing, but not too detailed. It would get boring.

More in the automotive theme, also excellent: Bad Obsession Motorsport

Thanks I'll give them a look.
I've been following the Bad Obsessions mini build for a while now. So much goes into their vids.

Can you comment on why you didn't build out full bumper cover replacement?

Does anyone make a bumper that doesn’t expose so much of the wheel and stuff?
Really want a strong bumper but I’m not crawling over any rocks and don’t want that Jeep Wrangler look
Maybe you could design 2 versions?
