General info:
Hello I'm new to this forum and bought a 2006 LX470 VVTI (1 owner Texas with 211.000 mile) in january. I had a flawless diesel 120, but environmental requirements of the government made me sell it. I live in the Netherlands and this car has been imported by a lexus specialist. After I bought it I came to know how many problems it has, luckily I bought it with warranty.
Question:
At the moment I have the B1150 code and changed the seat occupancy module but still get the same code. As I follow multiple threads they say I have to download the software from another 2006/2007 lx470 (I own a 2006) and I can't use a 2005? This would be a bit of a problem because I come from the Netherlands and mine is the only 2006 (original delivery in my country till 2005). At the moment it is at the dealer and they don't understand the car, so I hope to go soon and try some things myself. Does anyone know if I can use a 2005 or I just have to calibrate it?

Solved problems with this car:

At the moment we have has been done to the car:
- New front leather interion (seats, center consoles and arm rests)
- 1 new Marc levinson speaker and all the others are repaired by a speaker specialist
- Front diff was broken, so repaired and added Harrop E-locker in the front
- 4 new AHC spheres and flushed 2 times
- TIming belt, Heater T and 2 times transmission flush (flush done with oil and not with the cleaning stuff)
- Built in LPG
- Gromm V-Line audio
- All around new badges and some chromework
- New proffesional paint work
- Some new interior parts and lightbulbs
- Rims new Powder coat

We still have some things to do to get it 100%
- Really bad P to D clunk (maybe transfer case or rear diff, both got some play, if B1150 is solved I go to another specialist in this car)
- B1150 code
- (hope we solved the small evaporation leak)
- Oil leak
- Ironman front bumper, winch, suspension upgrades and underplates

All the solved problems are solved using this forum and I'm happy I have found it. Hope you guys can have some good info about this problem.

If I remember and understood correctly, from when I helped @TxAggieLC ...

2006-2007 LC/LX models were somehow "different", and this is specific to them.

He had B1150 & B1795 codes, that were fixed by replacing the “occupant detection ECU”.

After replacing the ECU, he cleared the old codes, and then he started getting a B1797.

We downloaded the data from my 06 LX, uploaded it to his 06 LC, this seemed to resolve his B1797 issue (I believe that we cleared codes in Techstream, after uploading the data), and he was able to run the ZPC (calibration).

When we did this, I did make some limited effort to try to find any new files that were created on my tablet from the upload/download process, but I did not locate anything.

You should probably do a little more troubleshooting before you just start replacing bits.

A "Factory Service Manual" might be of great help here in giving you (or your mechanic) a reasonable troubleshooting process.

If you do get in the same dilemma as TxAggieLC, with a B1797 code, I do wonder if one of the other members here, that uses Techstream in a VM, and owns an 06/07 LC/LX, couldn't do this:
  • Download the ECU data (the part that I did on my 06 LX).
  • "Freeze"/"put to sleep" their VM, preserving its current state (CPU/RAM/Disk).
  • Package & upload the files that make up that VM.

Allowing you to:
  • Download the "preserved" (VM) package, and install the files.
  • Start the VM on your machine in its previous state.
  • Upload the data to your ECU

This would be an attempt, at a brute force method of what TxAggieLC and I did, without having to be in close physical proximity. Your success will probably depend on finding a volunteer (nope, not me, I don't use Techstream in a VM), that is patient and technically proficient, and your patience/technical skills.

In my experience, this is more likely caused by:

- CV-axle/drive flange slop.
- Front differential mounting bushings

With some other bad (rubber) bushings/mounts maybe as minor contributing factors.

So I replaced the module and tried to calibrate it with no luck. I exchanged the data of the old module, but still got the write error. I can delete the B1150 error but now I get the b1797 calibration error as you said. So know I'm going to search for a 2006 lc or lx. If i find one do I need to put the module of that car temporary in my car or can I download it, shut down techstream and put it on my car?

I replaced everything from front diff (incl. flange and cv axles) and bushings are all tested but also look good. The rear proppelor shaft was also repaired (univeral joints where replaced) and all the old grease was cleaned. After that used moly grease.

When I did it with TxAggieLC, we:

-Connected my Techstream tablet to my vehicle.
-Downloaded the data from my LX to my Techstream tablet.
-Disconnected the tablet from my vehicle.
-Walked ~40ft
-Connected the tablet to his vehicle.
-Uploaded the data to his vehicle.
-Cleared codes on his vehicle.
-Went through the calibration on his vehicle.

No ECU removal from my vehicle.

What I was suggesting in my earlier post is that it MIGHT be possible to do the same process, but instead of the vehicles/tablet being local to one another, a VM could be used and passed electronically over distance.

When I find the unicorn and no one else has done it yet. I'll try to figure it out. Can post in on this forum than, but the search for another LC/LX is gonne take a while.

I may have found one. A 2005 with VVTI, so model year 2006. Still a bit afraid to try it on someone elses car so the lexus dealer is going to ask lexus for the software or a module with software.

Assuming that “passing the VM” works, the (US model) 06-07 LC/LX wouldn’t have to be local to you, making it less of a unicorn hunt. I can think of at least a dozen potential people on this site. I’ve got one in my driveway, but my preferred Techstream device is a little Windows tablet. There’s a fairly good chance that there is someone on this forum, that both have a 06-07, and already use the forum preferred VM from
