My CD Changer went bad a couple weeks back and the dealer wants to harvest my right arm for a refurbished unit. Anyone out there with a used unit to sell or know of an alternate source? Crutchfield doesn't carry the OEM.

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat and I am just going to get an in-dash unit. Another alternative is the Scion unit. Just depends on what you want to do. I am going with a single din and then mount by CB below.

I bought my replacement changer from Cruiserparts. I was contemplating on upgrading the in-dash unit to a Toyota or Eclipse Nav system, but stopped after looking at a total cost of over $1500.

Are you looking for the head unit or just the CD changer...or both?

Assuming the head unit still works fine...

Instead of investing in another changer, why not spend your money upgrading to a modern music-delivery system like XM or IPOD?

Way cheaper, and probably better sounding, just to get a new aftermarket head unit w/cd.

I'm just looking for the Changer. The head unit seems to be fine. From what I read on some other posts, ERR 14 was related to the changer.

Just curious -- How much was the dealer asking for the changer and how much are you willing to spend?

That's the thing, for the price of a changer (or possibly cheaper), you can probably get an aftermarket in dash changer or cd head unit that is capable of playing mp3, the cd changer of ten years ago is virtually obsolete. It will sound better and play more music. Just an idea...

I'll sell you mine for $250.

:whisper: If you take yours off the market I'll bump mine to $500 and give you half!

$250 is about right. I think I paid about that much for a used unit with a 90 day warranty.

deal!

:D

So, does the price bidding go to Ben? He was the first to respond with a price. There's been some chatter on this and I'm not checking often enough. You guys could battle it out for the lowest bidder ;) . $250 sounds about right considering it comes with no warranty that it won't fail the day after installation....then again neither does the unit from the dealer. By the way, the refurbished unit at Bell Lexus was $550.00. A new unit was $2400

When you guys decide who wants to sell, I've got some additional questions. My email is efsilvent@cox.net

Later,

Holy Smokes!

Check out the $$$ flying around! And that dealer replacement cost is frightening!

So, FT41 and NCDoug: What did you slot into the hole where the CD Changer used to reside? (Note: I didn't RTFM, and I didn't search for "Empty CD Changer Hole")

Good luck, fellas, into your race to the bottom!

Mine's still installed, I don't think I have the confidence in it to sell it to anyone for real money, though that $250 would get me a much better sounding/functioning head unit than the OEM system w/CD changer and would have the capability to play mp3 on CD, etc...
Doug, I pass the sale on to you.
Not to kill your sale, Doug, but Eddie, I still don't understand why you would spend any money to maintain the marginal OEM system, a new headunit would replace the current headunit and cd changer and be more functional, sound better, optional sattelite radio, etc., all for probably $250-300 installed.

I'd rather spend $250 on a new head unit than on replacing an old tech. changer that is hard to get to. Actually, I'd love to sell ya' mine for $250, and use your money to put a new head unit in, but sounds like you already have plenty of sellers lining up. Now that I know it's worth something, might have to contemplate the evil-bay.

This is what I'd really like to stick in the factory location

No worries about killing my sale. I agree with you 100%.

That said, if you're serious about buying one, Eddie, send a PM to me, I'll give you my paypal acct. info. Once you transfer $250 to my account, I'll pull my CD changer. It works pefectly fine.
