The fabric covering the speakers in my 99 LX is fraying and looking really bad. Is there a simple way to replace it? Does anyone know the part #'s and/or best place to order these? I'm assuming there would be a couple colors to choose from, I have the tan interior.

Is there a better place than to order these than directly from Toyota/Lexus?

Also, what's the best leather cleaner out there? Leather is dam dirty everywhere, it should be cleaned. Thanks for all that reply!

i was JUST thinking about this yesterday - mine are trashed too. People have posted this on the forum before but i didn't see a real clear solution. I would love to replace mine too though

Call Jacque or Barbara at TRDParts4u, if I remember correctly the speaker covers are available for about $30 each.

DNP posted how to remove the door panel in this thread:

In post 23 (https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/327860-door-panel-removal-process.html#post6039935), I listed the part numbers I used for the speaker cover (for my 05 LX) - make sure to pick the right trim color etc:
1) Front Right: 67609-60020-A2 ~$35
2) Front Left: 67709-60020-A2 ~$35
3) Rear Right: 67071-60020-A2 ~$46
4) Rear Left: 67072-60020-A2 ~$46

Re Speaker grill cloth: You can get very close to matching speaker grill cloth for less than $10 from a fabric or upholstery shop (or online), remove the door panels, pop out the speaker grills and re-cover yourself. Fortunately, when I had mine apart, they cleaned up nicely with some Tuff Stuff spray, but it looked easy enough to replace just the cloth. Yours sound like they are in worse shape than mine, though. Picture attached is not mine, but should give you an idea of how the grill is attached and removed on a 2000 LC. You will see the fasteners when you remove the door panel.

Re leather cleaner: There are a lot of detailed threads on leather care and repair, but for a simple cleaning, I use 1 part Woolite to 5 parts water to scrub the seats. Wipe clean with wet rag. Then use leather conditioner.

I am in the same boat as you.

You might as well Dynomat or use other sound reducer when you have the door panels off.

I figure I can sound deaden and replace the cloth for about the same price as buying new ones.

Blue Coral upholstery cleaner works real nice on the speaker covers if they are dirty (don't use the scrubber on the can, use a cloth to wipe off the foam), and I've always used Meguires leather cleaner/protector..smells good, cleans good (still gotta use some elbow grease as my grandad used to say)

I know this thread is a year old... I have young kids and I thought I'd leave it for now, but my wife and I have decided to get on this now. Do I really have to pull the door panels off simply to remove the speaker cloth? Or does the cloth portion come off separately from the covers? Or is it all fused/glued together? This is my LX... I hardly have any exterior noises aside from tire noise come through... I don't see how dynamat would really make it any quieter than it already is. Perhaps for a cruiser though :)

Thoughts on the speaker cover questions above?

On my 2000 LC, you have to remove the door panels. Not sure about the LX. Doors panel removal is a 5 minute job. Once the panel is removed, the screws on the back are exposed and the speaker cover pops right off. If I get the door apart for my actuator project this weekend, I will take some pics of the back of the panel.

No, you don't have to pull the panels completely off. Just take out all the screws including the big one behind the switch panel. Without taking that one out, it's a very tight fit to get your hand and a short screw driver back behind to take the covers off. Did two doors before I figured it out.

Basically, with all the screws out, including the hidden one behind the switch panel and the one behind the door latch trim piece, the panel is just hinging at the top of the door with metal clips. Quite a bit more effort and care is needed to get the panel completely off. I wouldn't take them off just to replace the speaker grills.

I just pulled the old fabric off the plastic grills and recovered with cloth from Metric TLC and 3M spray mount. Took about one hour per door. Results are well worth the time and effort. $50 total.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/327860-door-panel-removal-process.html shows you how it's done. I went by the FSM, but didnt follow every little step, so I missed the one big screw. Do some research before you start tearing into it.

Good Luck!

I hadn't thought of taking it partially off. The difference is only a few screws or fasteners either way. I've taken mine off a bunch of times to dynamat and work on the stereo, so maybe I minimized the effort. But it did only take me 3 minutes this morning.

Which ever way you choose, here are some pics of what you will be facing to remove the grills and change the cloth.

I used black sports cloth from walmart. Looks good against the tan door panels. Cleans up without staining.

Goof Off cleaner takes the scuff marks off the vinyl on the door panels. Treat it with conditioner afterwards.

Post pics please. I'd like to use them on the site if that's ok.

x2 are you able to post pictures? Yes it does look like the panels must come out to remove the speaker covers because they seem to be screwed in from the inside (am I seeing this correctly?)
