LX daytime running light service bulletin-- daytime running light resistor 2002-5? (1 Viewer)

anyone know if the LC was included in that? Do any of the LCs 2002- 05/2005 have resistors installed as either factory or retroactively?

The resistor is bolted down to the pass side wheel arch area close to the power steering pump reservoir with an orange sticker if you have it. I'm trying to see if most everyone has one, or if most everyone does not have one.
Wiring books of those years don't show a resistor installed.
It would explain why some people here can use recent LED 9005s as daytime running lights and some can't. I'm trying to sort it out, or maybe see how many people had that service campaign addressed or left it alone.
I appreciate the help if a few could go look.

There are several minor changes to the DRL harness and in the main fuse box associated with this TSB, so it’s a little more than just removing the resistor. The modification details are contained in the DRL tsb which I’ve attached to comments in a previous DRL thread a while back. Should come up in a mud search and I’m pretty sure the TSB can still be pulled off the national transportation safety website.

FYI...I did the reverse TSB on the DRL resistor. Not too difficult. 1 banana. However, it looks like the LED light still needs a resistor. I noticed if you put one halogen and one LED in they work. Which means the LED needs resistance probably.

I ordered a resistor/relay from amazon to try. Hopefully, this will work.

some of the problems with these, and the initial fix all around, is just straight wire the DRL circuit to +12. Seems like that's what most of these fixes do. They address a DRL check light on the panel and maybe or maybe not fix the switching.
I wouldn't add a yet another relay when there already is one in there.
The twin mode 9005s specifically work with whatever proprietary driver, resistor pack etc they say you need but thy doesn't work with our drl resistor. I guess that's obvious by now.
There's a guy here who says the mori two strokes work in an LC. Don't know if he had the resistor(stock) or not. I would bet not. (2002)
I don't' have any led 9005 or 6 to check with. I have the whole thing out on a bench, waiting for some to show up. From Lou.
Seems no one really knows how these twin bulbs sense and at what level for drl. I guess xenon depot doesn't anything about that either.
It specifically states in morimoto stuff that the drl works at 4-9vdc. Who knows though. Can't find anything about what they draw.
I'll find out next week.

If it was clear what the 5 gen 4 runner put out from the body ecu or master I think they call it, then it should be no problem to make all these work. Seeing that the 4 runners work fine with xenon depot pro 9005. I think removing the stock resistor is the first step. Short the two wires and add a few resistors, maybe one at the short and one at each harness/bulb. MAybe just a 12 to 9v, *9 is too much at 1.01 amps. But I'm just guessing. I don't have any led 9005 yet. Just testing with two sets of led bumper assembly leds, stock resistor, adjustable in out dc-dc, some random 68k resistors, etc. I'm not an expert or an EE so forgive my slang or whatever else I say that's wrong.

Yes. But, I have already removed the drl resistor. Another person has used the relay I purchased, and he said it works great.

I hear you man. I would just read the reviews and the questions about what you linked. Hopefully the output at the DRL side is less than full brightness.
