Hello 200 series forum. I recently traded a 15 4Runner for an 11 LX and couldn't be happier. Always have and still love my 03 'Cruiser. Now we have a 100 and 200 series and life is good!

So my question is, should my wipers stay in this up position or will they go into a lower profile? I took them off the gear spindle (?) and tried to rotate the entire assembly but then things didn't line up correctly, the wiper was on the plastic on the bottom.

I tried search here but came up with nothing. I tried searching Google, found some talk about a snow position. I tried to pop them back and was afraid I was going to break something.

Anyone else encounter this or know if it's normal?

Thank you

Agreed. Higher than normal. Mine sit much lower than what is pictured.

Mine were the same way. May have been bent in a car wash from previous owner. I took the arms off and bent them to where they should go using a vice. Worked great and now they sit horizontal. Cheaper than buying new arms from the dealer.

Thank you everyone.
Aggie, bending them came to mind but as a last resort, looks like I might be at that point. I'm tired of seeing them every time I drive the wife's truck.

Why don't you just undo the bolt and push them down? My 200 were high but I took off the screw that attaches at the end then pushed them down, problem solved!

I think the OP already tried that:

Hey guys, bought a 2018 lx a few months back. Having this same issue, is there an easy fix besides bending arm? Anyone else
Have suggestions or solutions? Driver side wiper is super loud and I’m guessing this is why.

Awesome, I’ll give it a try. Thank you! Just out on the Oregon coast and don’t want to break them before a 10 hr drive home tomorrow. Driving me nuts though.

When I bought my 18' LX last month my driver side wiper would tap the windshield trim. I removed the arm and tried to reposition it but the next position was way off. I ended up just bending the head a bit with the arm still mounted to the car and that fixed the problem.

They do have a snow mode where they'll sit up higher like that. It's for when snow builds up under them. If it's in that current position and not smacking the a-pillar when in use then it's likely in snow mode. Just pull it back down and you'll feel a thud to reset it to normal position. If it is hitting the a-pillar then you'll have to remove the 14mm nut and reset the whole arm down.

Passenger side came down no problem, drivers side not as much. Tip of drivers wiper hitting A pillar on top of stroke creating the tapping noise. Maybe I can bend further when I get home. Open to suggestions.

Is resetting with the 14mm nut a pretty simple job? I’m somewhat mechanically illiterate.

I'd say so. At the base of each arm there's a cap over the nut. Pull it off and then remove nut. Sometimes the arms can be stuck, but gently push down on arm at about the hinge point that has the spring that allows arm to be raised off of glass. Once off of the splined stud it sits on just place it to correct position then torque it down and test operation.
