Well I'm thinking of replacing my 96', 80 with a 100. I've read, searched driven.... now for a couple of questions. I'm looking at a 99 or 2000, I want the rear air and the locker (99 LC would be nice) the adjustable suspension on the LX would be nice (until it needs fixing) The TC on the 2000's also has its advantages.

I bought the 96 locked as I thought I didn't want to gat stuck going fishing any wheeling would be a bonus. Other than driving much more than expected, 27k last year I wouldn't think of getting rid of the 80. The benefits of the 100 as I see are comfort, quieter, power, towing (I tow a light weight but wind resistant raft), rear air, and potential TC.

So, back to the question what are the strength and weakness of one over the other? do the earlier LX's have TC or just LS? When did they first come with 17" wheels.

One thing I'm curious about is the LX suspension where can I find out more details? It sounds great until it has "issues" then I bet she is la bitch to fix and without the Cdan discount!

thanks

The locker only came on the LC, not Lexus. TC first in 2000.

Christo Slee is building up an LX. Talk to him about the adjustible suspension.

The drivers on this board (and the LCOOL boards) who have both 80 and 100 series tend to speak most highly of their 100, except in the area of after-market equipment availability. and Slee is working to correct that!

yea, but when you decide, don't forget that real He-men drive LCs, and :princess: drive Lexettes... It says so right there in the Britannica!
:D

Think the 17s first became standard in 2003.

I would look for a 2000 for the following upgrades

Traction control
Stronger 4-pinion front differential

When the revolution comes all those driving a Lexus (Damn Lexus plural problem) will likely be shot. If you pull off the gold crap on your LC you probably won't have that problem. ;)

The suspension in my LC is already silky smooth. Why would I want some overpriced air-bag marshmellow added to it ? :D
