I am considering purchasing a set of 4 LX rims from Discount tires. They have the center caps and no lug nuts. I think they are silver and not the hyper silver that I think I would rather have.
Anyway these are $600 for the set of 4, so if any one knows of a set for less LMK.

Here’s the question. My unit came with after market rims and now that I’m looking at factory rim I need to find out if these lug nuts are factory or not.
PS if anyone has the specifics on the lug nuts LMK so I may do a search on eBay.
From what I’ve read they are quite spendy.
This is one I’m using now.
Thanks,
DMX

These are not the same lug nuts as factory Toyota (maybe you already knew that)..and they won't work with OEM aluminum wheels. The OEM lug nuts have an integral HD washer and is flat where it contacts the wheel.

That’s what I figured, but I honestly haven’t seen one! lol
Any suggestions on where I can get a set reasonable? I’ll be calling C-Dan tomorrow. I figure I’ll take out a loan to get the lug nuts!
What about the rims? Too high of a price?
Thanks,
DMX

Well it has been 4-5 months since I saw a set of 4 OEM LC wheels on Ebay for $300.00. However I haven't seen anything on there lately in 16" size.

One mondo link to LC lug nuts...

$600 is WAY to much for a set of LX rims, I paid $150+ shipiing(think $100) for my set on Ebay

call Slee.......he has a pile of them.

pretty sure those lug nuts look like the ones that were on the aftermarket wheels on our LX, so yes you need new OEM lug nuts, figure $10 each.

you should still have your OEM spare wheel/tire under tha back, take the lug nut you have and try it on the OEM spare........prety sure it won't work.

also AFAIK no one makes an aftermarket lug nut for the OEM wheels, Discount did alot of checking for me.

A set of LX nuts and factory wheel locks sold recently on ebay for around $60. I guess I should have bought them after all:rolleyes:

i agree on the whopping $600 being too much for a set of wheels. the going rate has always been $200 on ebay, including the center caps. the darker silver ones from 02 (i think) are quite a bit harder to find. i would go the extra mile to wait for a set thathas the lug nuts. a typical seller isn't going to understand the value that they hold. kind of like lockers with an 80.

I think I would rather have the darker silver (hyper sliver?) anyway. Does anyone using these? How does the finish hold up compared to the stock silver?
Are the lug nuts the same for the darker silver as the lighter silver? IE: just chrome?

Ditto on $600. That's way to much.

I picked mine up on ebay for $200 too.

I like the looks of the LX wheel better. Both wheels are LC rims, the first ones are regular silver & the second set appear to be the hipersilver?

Anyway, Discount got the rims in today and the wife and I looked at them. They are the hipersilver with center caps. They have some minor imperfections one could expect form a used rim. One of the wheels had black streaks on the finish. Not sure if this will clean off or not. Anyone had this problem?
He said he would do half price $300 and would order two more to see if we can get some cleaner units. That sounds better. $200 for rims on eBay + $80 to $100 shipping. This is about right.
The center caps are not quite the same finish, but real close. Is this center cap supposed to be the identical color? Anyone have the darker silver wheels that can shed some light on these issues?
Thanks,
DMX

How about powdercoating them black? :D

Dean,

Snap those puppies up! 300 is a fair deal for the hypersilver units. I have a set of hypersilvers for my Blizzaks and I almost wish my summer wheels were the hypersilvers. We have the chrome for summer. :frown:

They are clear coated. Will the streaks buff off?

Oh, and yes the center caps are slightly off color.

Pimp, I called Christo and he was not there and will not return until after the 1st.
The guy’s in the shop couldn’t help.

Macneill My thought is, after the paint is torn all up, I’ll go with the black powder coat. (We do that at my work.;) ) I would rather start with the color I want first, then go to the black PC later.

Dave, thanks for the info on the center caps! I’m not sure if the black streaks will buff off, the manager didn’t think so. But what does he know! Perhaps some good clear coat safe cleaner/polish would do the trick. I’ll see what he brings in the next few days.
Tuesday I’ll call C-Dan and order some lug nuts. :bounce:
My new 285/75-16 are gonna look good on these rims!

I called Christo today to order my diff drop bracket and got the "closed til Jan 2 message." No Xmas gift for me. :frown:

That sucks! Sorry to hear that. I know during the Christmas break allot of us have time off and makes it a good time to do things.
Me, I’ve got lots to do and I have to get the baby’s room ready too. I’ll be painting this Christmas, while everyone else is flocking trees and opening gifts. lol

I envy you guys in the USA. I've been looking for LC100 rims in Europe, but was not able to locate a set (or at least one!) - alloy or steel. It seems as the only option is to buy a new one at Toyota dealer :(. If anybody from Europe knows where to get them cheap - please let me know.

Regards

Samo

what does it cost to p-coat a set of rims? I love the way they complement a silver rig.

I got a quote of $50 per rim at a local p-coating co. When I get my set of off-road wheels and tires, I'm thinking I'll get mine painted the same color gray as the rest of the trim on my 100. I think it would look pretty cool.

Anybody here good with Photoshop that can make the wheels match the gray trim on the pic below? I would love to see what it would look like before I actually do it.
