In 3rd gear you would be taller at 3.11 vs 2nd gear with 2.488 x-case

3.11 vs 3.78

Not sure how that would work for you. You would gain a little more top speed in 3rd and Lo.

I agree, sorta, but also not. I think having a lower 1st gear in the trans would be nice. I don't think a bigger spread between low range boxes is a good idea, though, and I certainly don't think 19 transfer cases like the mini trucks is a good idea.

The solution is a LS3 with a 6L80

Having a 4.03 1st gear like the 6L80 would be sweet but a 8L90 with a 4.56 1st would be even sweeter

Coming from the mini-truck world, the dual cases with 4.7s in the rear case, these low range gears are a decent improvement over the stock low range. I was already on 37's from the moment I lifted it and drove it a year before doing the 5.29's. That was a huge help for driveability, and low range as well but low speed wheeling was still way too fast. Ordered up Marlins case gears for a few reasons. Marlin took the time (like he always does) researching the proper gear, material, cutters, suppliers and place of origin, and his stuff is quality. There are rare instances I'll use TG like my winch mount or other hard parts that aren't internal and dependent upon to drive down the road. Also, after hearing about TGs copy room and how they like to do what they do, I'll gladly support the superior product even if it costs me a bit more. FFWD...
Gears are in and work great. They're again, nothing like dual cases or a steep 4/4.7:1 gear like the minis but they're a huge help. Would I do it again? Indeed! Would I save money and buy TG? F no, support those who support you (go break on the roundup run and Marlin personally will help you fix your rig if you're scratching your head and in need of help (seen it done a lot on different trail rides). TG would drive buy and hand you a laminated flyer for their next sale and keep going, maybe give you a cold beer but help? No way! I support Marlin and his family and employees.
I don't remember if you said you had done R&PS, but if not you could definitely do the high and low range gears from Valley Hybrids. Seen a bunch of rigs now that do this and save a fair amount over doing ring and pinions, and you retain the strength of the stock R&P in the process. If I had to do it all over again I'd go with t-case gears (high and low range) and be done with it.

I've asked Big Mike a few times about an adapter to run the mini truck cases, or even a dual case adapter for the 80, and he's unresponsive saying fuel tank/not enough people want one so a one-off adapter will cost $$$$$. I told him I'd gladly run the tank differently, mod the stock one, oror ev go to a fuel cell if dual cases were an option and he seemed a bit more into chatting about it.

Fyi, for anyone looking to add the low range Tcase gears they are on sale for $639 right now at Marlin Crawler.

waaaaay worth it. Especially combined with the 10% UD with 315s.
