low oil pressure

85 4runner has 18k miles. I noticed that the oil pressure gauge is just below the first mark on the gauge. I took it for a drive on the freeway and the needle never moved up. Is this a sign that I need to replace the oil pump? I just replaced the oil pressure sending unit. Any ideas? Thanks.

Don't trust the OE guage. They aren't really for guaging what's what. Get a mechanical guage and test it that way.
