My 60 has recently been showing lower oil pressure at idle. It used to read just towards the high side of center on the gauge regardless of rpm, but now occasionally drops to the way low side at idle. This wasn't a slow change, just one day bam it was low. It's not all the time just 50% of the time. The gauge will fall off sitting at a stoplight then as soon as she is revved jump right back to normal. Haven't had a chance to do a direct oil pressure check on her just the factory gauge. What would cause this? Sending unit? Oil pump problem? Would like to figure it out before something bad happens.

Well either U don't have enough oil in your rig or you need a new sender. More than likely you need more oil in there, have you checked your dip stick?

You might try cleaning the contact on the sender. The rubber boot that covers it can trap water in it and make a lousy connection.

How often to you check or change your oil? Do you check the drain plug magnet for metal shavings? Any new noises come with the sudden change?

If you have access to an oil pressure gauge, give that a try. See what the actual oil pressure is. Also, on the connector, check the general condition of the wiring. It tends to get brittle over time/heat.

Things that cause low oil pressure, low oil, debris blocking screen, worn oil pump, worn main bearings, bad sending unit or wiring.

No unusual noises. Oil level is right up to full and the oil only has about 2000 miles on it. Running 10w-40. Oil pressure is always towards the high side when driving. Could low voltage in the electric system cause the gauge to wander. First time it did it was after I was cleaning on her for a day with the radio playing. Battery was weak after that. It's not a DD so it sits alot and could have a weak battery.
