2004 Lexus LX470. I can live with the high beams but the low beams don’t cut it.
Any recommendations for a better replacement bulb I can get without major modifications?
TIA

I run Tungsram +120%. I also use selective yellow fog lights - Flosser H3.

I replaced both of the wiring “caps” on my truck as they suffered from melted or replaced wiring.

55 amp Flosser? Also when you say selective do you mean you installed a separate switch for the fog lights?
Thanks for your reply Sir!

I'm running LASFIT LEDs, very happy with them. They also have a larger dust cover to go over the bigger LED bulbs (although they may have designed a smaller bulb since I did this).

I'm running this exact setup also. It is an improvement over stock, but it's still not great.

Thanks but I could not see that particular bulb that fit my 2004 LX470
The poster most likely owns a Cruiser.
On top of that issue all the blue light options out there will mess with your head pretty quickly if you really, really drive for hours in dark.
4300K is tops and it better be calibrated and certified. We live in the Age of Shortcuts.

Do you have a suggestion for a particular low beam bulb for my 04’ LX? Fog light also….

Not able to offer “first hand” input, yet… but I did some research a few weeks ago and discovered Daniel Stern Lighting website (danielsternlighting.com). His information and conclusive test results prompted me to place an order for bulbs for my LX and a 2014 Tacoma. Bulbs are in route to the shop. Will let you know opinion once installed.

On a LC, I installed a 65 W (HB3) bulb into the low beam and the change is night and day. Not sure what sort of light bulb is in LX. You have to cut the plastic tab in between the metal prongs inside the light bulb socket and get a bigger O ring to go around the bulb. Cost $5 per side!

Thanks. I look forward to know the results

No.

"Selective yellow" means the light is yellow-ish. I find it a nice improvement in rain/snow over the standard color fog light bulbs the truck came with.

The fog light on the LX470 is an H3 bulb. The brand I use is Flosser and it's "gold coated" I believe to give it the selective yellow color.

I have held off any LED retrofits as I get blinded by these retrofits often. I don't want to add to the problem. If I wanted to go LED I would go for a full-on conversion.

Thanks for the reply. I had duh around and found out about what “selective “ meant. Did you do anything extra to the wiring with these bulbs?

I’ve tried multiple bulb options, that seemed better in the city, but out in the country they all seemed to suck. I’m committed to trying the nuclear option:

A less drastic/expensive option might be:

Or

But you’d have to modify your corner lights to behave like LC blinkers

Nope. I kept it all factory.

I have HIR high beams for when I am in the middle of nowhere.

Where would one buy the Tungsram bulb? Just confirming the low beams are H1 bulbs too

I consulted and purchased through Daniel Stern.

For the LX470:
Lows are H1
Fogs are H3
High Beams are 9005 (but I use a modified HIR1 9011 bulb)
