Throwing a feeler out here....I may be in the market for a car in the near future.....something that is good on gas mileage and reliable....not looking to spend a lot (of course this is me we are talking about)....if y'all know of anything let me know.

Thanks, Chuck

actually there is a nice 4wd corolla wagon up here near asheville with 146k on the clock.
2800 is a lil pricey compared to every other civic out there but it is a toyota and it does come standard with a center diff lock and six speed manual with granny 1st :D

uh oh, looks like its got 149k now, but he dropped the price to 2k. I cant believe how much I consider this thing.

otherwise keep your eyes on the CRX's if its commuting only and no need to haul more than groceries.
I just missed one with completely rebuilt motor (to stock, no ricer) and tones of goodies for 1700.
But they vary from good deals like that one to overpriced ragged and wrecked garbage.

useful tool in the hunt...... http://www.themccumbers.com/States.htm

can never go wrong with a 92-95 civic hatch back.

New engine/tranny swaps (even higher HP DOHC swaps) can be had for less than 2k...some times even down to 250-500 bucks for SOHC swaps

Capable of getting 35 mpg with 1.5 non vtec engine.

Plenty of extra space for a little car with a hatch back. Still a sporty feel with a 5 speed.

Can be had for less than 2K stock, very nicely modded for less than 5K. Cheap taxes, cheap insurance and VERY reliable.

I like the hatch backs.

Light

roomy

plenty of opprotunity to mod her....or leave her stock.

I can never leave well enough alone.

the 96 up hatch backs are heavier than the 92-95 but still nice.
