Looking to purchase my first LC opinions needed on rust!

I’m not exaggerating when I say I would have moved to the mountains by now but haven’t because I don’t want to watch my cars dissolve.

Diverse range of opinions here. Seems like tolerance for rust depends greatly on your location and exposure to salt roads.

I do want to do a lot of my own work on vehicle, and the thought of fighting rusty bolts makes my skin crawl. I already take three times longer than I should doing fairly simple mechanical tasks.

Funny enough a 2011 Amazon green just popped up local to me, but it is a low mileage garage Queen and is listed for 42K. I am very tempted....

Hope it’s you that is buying. Website says pending sale. It does look to be immaculate from the limited photos.

Why not move and be happy? Cars are meant to be used up, discarded, and replaced. There’s a reason why you see so few 60s, 80s, and 100s on the road.

I’m pretty happy and get to go to the mountains a lot. But working on cars is also something I really enjoy and the frustration caused by all that salt would take a lot of the fun away.

I have found a 2008 with 200K miles on the clock I am interested in. The vehicle has spent its entire life on the salty roads of the northeast. Can you all please give me your opinion on the rust shown in these photos? I have NO idea when it comes to rust on vehicles, having lived in California my entire life. If you were me would you pull the trigger on this cruiser?

I bought that truck. It wasn't as rusty as it seems. Very good for a CT truck. Gonna hit it with the wire wheel then coroseal and finish it with some fluid film. The running board bolts turned right out without any pb blast. Calipers and rotors had surface rust. Paperwork from Toyota said customer wanted aftermarket parts? I used some coroseal rust inlimidator all done. Salesman said he got alot of out of town responders on it. Tons of paperwork from dealer. Toyota owner site verified it all. They gave me 10k for my LX470 and I paid the rest in cash. Thanks for passing it up lol. Good luck on your search.
