Told this guy I would buy the rig if he brought it to the closest toyota dealership to be inspected and I would pay for everything. He said he wouldn't do it because he doesn't have a temp tag for it. Basically asking y'all if you've dealt with him or have heard anything about him. I don't want to get ripped off and it just seems a bit sketchy. Thanks

No, but that looks like a pretty good deal. Vehicle doesn't look super well maintained inside, so that may be a red flag.

I called and after 2 minutes of him yelling at me " in a nice way " that i need to put a deposit down now, I had to hang up . It was a weird conversation . Had a terrible feeling.

@OneFourBravo Good for you. Trust your gut. IT seems that the general concensus is to avoid dealing with Miami dealers - seem to be a lot of theifs and scum there

I travel to Miami on business frequently and drive past a lot of used car lots that look like that one, I wouldn’t buy a vehicle from any of them. Beware.

Agree 100%. I’ve looked at more than a few Trucks and Toyota’s since being stationed in the area (CL, auto trader, dealers) and everything, EVERYTHING, used around here, even with a solid history or from manufacturer based dealer always has some issue or “hiccup”. There are a lot of fast and quick body shops and labor is pretty cheap to fix mechanicals. Carfax has painted a much prettier picture than the actual specimen for me more than once - lot of wasted trips. And people down here seem to have a problem..... we’ll let’s say “remembering the truth/facts”.

Sorry if I offend those of you from Miami area, just my experiences so far down here. I’ll be on my way out as soon as the man lets me.

I live in Palm Beach, I see so many cars in Miami that are straight up lies. Mileage rolled back, with the carfax proving it is. They don't seem to care. I would not buy anything down there without see it in person yourself, and still would not buy it unless it was a great deal.

Yeah I'm actually looking at a 2000 100 in my area. An older guy is selling it with around 160,000 on the clock. He just put a new engine in it (60,000 miles) and transmission due to him forgetting to change the timing belt. Clean looking rig other than those stupid looking tape on fenders they did. He's asking $11,500. Really wondering if its a good deal or not...?

Well, if it was ever registered in FL, I promise you it’s a 1999. He is the 5th owner. It’s been repainted at Maaco - twice. The “new engine” had 260,000 miles........;)

J/K man, but trust your gut and walk if anything looks off or the old man acts like d**k during any part of the process.

I find it interesting that he posts this in the ad...

We do not carry off sight vehicle inspections our insurance policy does not allow for.

As someone who specializes in commercial insurance, I can tell you without a doubt that statement is absolutely horse****. Since a dealer's commercial insurance follows their dealer plates, they will always have insurance on a vehicle as long as it's got any of the dealer plates on it.

If a dealer has no dealer plates at all, avoid them like the black plague.

I live in SFL and try to avoid purchases in Miami-Dade county. Especially when it comes to vehicles and so-called dealers.

As another guy in commercial insurance yotadude is correct.
