I recently purchased a 73 FJ40 and am completely restoring it. I've taken it apart all the way down to just the frame. I was wondering if anyone can give me the name of any good books or websites that have good detailed pictures (other than the ones I took) when I go to put this thing back together again. The only one I get when I google pretty much is haynes, are there any other out there?

Factory Service Manual (FSM) would be helpful. Several can be downloaded from Birfield.com.

Also I would assume you know about the Man-A-Free and Specter off-road catalogs. They have exploded fiews of most parts. Coolerman has the FSM on his web site. He has done a very good job and has some good info.

heck, you can just go to SORs website and see the expanded flews right there, no need for a catalog from them ;)

Ask about a particular part of the resto and I'm sure many of us have pics of our cruisers in various states of repair/resto/condition/tinkering that you can look at. All you have to do is plan a little in advance and ask us, then using the replies go for it. That's what I did. Good luck, you'll need it

theres also another source. Downey offroad. If you order their catalogue it has all their prices. i forgot if it was free or not. You will be suprised at their prices. pretty decent. don't be afraid to look into a hotrod mag everynow and then. theres lots fo sources for universal parts and gromets for example. good luck

I appreciate all of your help. I've already started pulling research together. Hope to get more advice in the future. Thanks again.
