Looking for replacement leather options for my 96 LX450

I finished the driver side upper tonight. I added the upper seat heater and added additional foam towards the bottom. The install went smoothly and the fit is nice. It did take a little more tugging with the extra foam at the bottom.

The only negative I noticed and this just me being a perfectionist is the perforated dots in the middle weren't going at the same angle as the bottom two sections. Small detail I know but it might be a bigger issue to somebody reading this considering purchasing.

Also something else I've noticed. The factory leather in my LX has a smooth finish. The leather from lseat.com has a texture to the finish. Even if you do Match the color perfectly the textures are goin to be different. I don't know if it is Bc I have 17 year old Leather or it was that way originally. I chose not to do my back seats just yet but it doesnt bother me. Just something to think about if your looking for a perfect match.

Why/where did you add extra foam?

Yes,

Interested where you added the foam and why. I've got some lower back problems and my seats don't seem to help. I've always thought that some adjustments to the foam might help but have no idea where to start.

So mis-cut bottom covers and a lack of detail (I would have sent back, personnally) to the alignment of the perfs. Hmm. I think I'm happy to wait on Shane for my kit.

Curious though, unless I missed it in this thread, what did you use for the seat heat?

Please don't pretend this is an apples to apples product comparison. The kit you ordered was 2.5 times the price.

Please don't pretend that justifies shoddy work.

I understand that the leather grade for the price is not going to be all that great, but it should be cut, laid out and sewn together correctly. Same amount of money in labor is going to be spent to put on a crappy cover (probably more actually to make it fit right) as a well made cover for those that are not going to do it themselves.

Personally, I would rather have the slightly shoddy work and use the savings for a spare tire carrier. Everyone agrees that Shane's leather is superior but it would take me years to save up and then drop $1200 on new covers. Besides, this is a work truck. My interior is currently covered in mud from a recent wheeling trip. I don't want to ask my passengers to take a shower before they hop in the seats. Lseat is a perfect option for me and I am really hoping 80 covers are coming soon.

It can only help the cruiser community to have more products and more producers providing services. Perhaps if we have some patience this outfit will iron out the problems. I was considering the purchase of expensive seat covers in an attempt to not have to constantly readjust the cheap ones that I currently use. For the price, this product may very likely fit my needs.

Agreed. Looks like the cutouts where for an earlier model year and I hope they quickly figure out the LX dimensions because I need a set.

I am amazed. I just received my email from Metric today that my order shipped. I took advantage of the Black Friday sale and ordered it the following Monday. I was told by Shane it could be up to 4 or 5 weeks ahead of time. I appreciated the honesty and went ahead. Now I find out they will be in my grubby hands on December 29, 2014. I am stoked. As an aside, I ordered my new shifter from Dan for around $215.00. The recovered one was $185. My upholstery shop did not have the ability to cover it for some reason.
Can't wait.

Any update on LC (not LX450) covers from these guys?

Interesting. Wonder if they took care of all of the other people that are pissed off waiting for their orders.

I have been in touch with them and I will be sending in my originals to use as patterns for the 80. Mine is a 97

Cool, looking forward to the result. I want new leather and seat heaters in the front, but not quite bad enough to drop Metric dollars on it.

You could ask lseat to simply not cut the hole for the controls and do it yourself.
i've seen leather kits like that, and rough cut openings for switches without stitching.
It's all hidden behind the plastic trim plate anyway.

I don't think it's fair to say it's shoddy work. I didn't realize those plates were different shapes between the 94 and 96. That's an honest mistake.
