I need to get a couple deer this fall for the freezer and I am looking for some private property to bowhunt in VA.
If anyone has any leads i'd appreciate the info.

I operate ninja and leave no trace. Can certainly share the harvest.

Sam

You can have either of these 2 if you can drop them. I'm pretty sure you can bow hunt on my lot. I've been told I can get a permit to do so from Fairfax County.

sweet. I'll take you up on it.
Urban archery in Fairfax is weird unless you hunt on private property. They want you to join a local hunting club and hunt in packs of 20-30 guys in treestands in designated areas.
Also, I wouldn't be able to take antlered deer until regular season in October.
I'm trying to find the minimum lot size in Fairfax and it looks like two acres is the minimum size to hunt.

looks like MD out of state bowhunting license is $155 with a two deer bag limit, max one antlered.

I'll let you know Stump if i need to cross the border.
*Thanks for the offer.

I'm already getting excited for hunting season.

Yeah I know you have to wait, just giving you an example of what I see pretty often. My lot is just over 2 and a half acres so that should work out. Do I need to pull a permit or anything or is that not necessary? I have several good tree stand trees on my lot. You should come by and check it out some time.

I don't see any requirements for a landowner to obtain a special permit to allow bowhunting during official seasons on private property in Fairfax County. You would need a special permit to use firearms to hunt on your property smaller than 20 acres however.

I'll have to pick up a new climbing treestand this year.

I wouldn't use a tree stand in Fairfax. Hell, you could probably walk right up on them. That's just me though. Never was much for stands.

What kind of bow are you shootin Sam? I'm actually thinkin about getting back into huntin this year. Its been about 6 years since I last went.

I hate using tree stands too. something doesnt seem right about using them and I prefer to stalk and hunt, not wait and kill.
Fairfax highly "encourages" bowhunters to use tree stands on smaller plots of land so that the ground is always the backdrop.

I have two bows, a little old school compared to current models, but they were high tech a decade or more ago.
My main bow is a Hoyt hypertech XT2000 launching Whitetail arrows fitted with three blade broadheads. I forget the brand of those, but they fly close to a field point and land just a few inches higher.

my other bow is a PSE mach8 set up for western elk hunting. Think the pull is about 80lbs on that one right now. That one is set up for Beeman carbon fiber arrows and 4blade muzzy broadheads.

using flex fletch on all arrows.

I might switch to a lighter faster arrow so quick and long shots are more forgiving, but NVA hunting is so close anyway that this prob doesn't matter. Fairfax deer would be easy to harvest if we had an easier time hunting public property.

for a while now i've been wanting to pick up or make a recurve to play around with instinctual shooting.

I have 152 acres mixture between fields and woods / seen a few deer a lot of bears this year eating the corn
