Hello everyone,

I'm looking for assistance getting my vacuum advance distributor set up and timed on my 77 FJ43. I've been able to occasionally get the truck started but have struggled with timing. I've watched all the videos, read the Haynes manual and FSM but continue to struggle. Is there anyone near Pisgah Forest, NC that would be willing to lend a hand? I can provide all the beer and pizza/mexican food/burgers required:)

Love that 43, looks very familiar..... Anyway, not a carb wizard here, but any old mechanic should be able to set it up. If its the original and you get tired of fiddling with it, you can get a new one and be done with it. I go this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073W9QM3K?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1 4 years ago as a temporary fix and it has worked perfectly since. Cheap back up or permanent fix, but will let you drive the 43 while you fiddle with the old carb or have to do a rebuild. Hope this helps

I have some experience with the 2F distributors and I'd love to assist, but I'm in Charlotte. I can't make it up to turn wrenches in person, but feel free to PM me if you have specific questions. I'll give you my number and we can try to work through the process over the phone.

Roadstr6,

Thanks for your offer of help. I’m going to try one last time this weekend. If I can’t get it started, expect to hear from me.

Izzyandsue,

That’s a great looking 43. I’ve got a lift and new tires ready to go, then my 43 will look very similar to yours.

I’ll check out that carb. I’ve heard good things about it.
