Watch the Albuquerque Craigslist - they come up all the time. There was one for sale down the road a few days ago but it's gone now, so I guess somebody snatched it up.

Not to get too picky about it, but the '93 to '97 Cruisers are actually FZJ-80's. They have a different engine than the '91 and '92 Cruisers that are FJ-80s.

If you specify the year, you are probably OK, but just thought I would mention it.

They are great trucks - good luck!

yes i know FZJ 93-97 have 4.5L motor. thanks now if someone locally would sell one that would be great

At some point in time, everyone is a newbie here (and to Land Cruisers) and has to be informed about the FJ80 vs FZJ80 difference. We just figured you didn't know the difference yet.

Differences:

FJ80:
  • Drum rear brakes.
  • Powered by the mighty and dependable 3FE.
  • No electric lockers.
  • Part time 4WD with manual hubs.
  • Ownership dominated by real men.

FZJ80:
  • 4 wheel disk brakes, ABS option.
  • 1FZ-FE engine.
  • Electric locker option.
  • Full time 4WD.
  • Pesky heater hose that requires engine removal to replace.
  • Little freeze plug thingy that dissolves when the engine is cleaned and is unobtainium from the dealer.
  • Head gasket that needs replacing with oil changes.
  • Driven by sissies and old men.

Jon, nice to know that you can finally accept that an 80 can be driven by "real men", but in your old age, you forgot to pounce on "fresh meat" and give your welcome speech. :flipoff2:

BTW, welcome brooklynkid :flipoff2:. There has been a few 80's in the "for sale" thread here on this site. I'll let you know if I run by any others outside here. My brother had two. What are you looking for in one?

FJ80 never came with manual hubs or a PT case. Full time as well. HF2A xfer case for 1991-1992. The HF1A is the 80 series non-US part time case.

HF2AV (with viscous coupler) xfer case 1993-1997.

Everything else, besides the subjective comments, are correct.

I stand corrected on the objective. But everything else is still fact. :grinpimp:

That said, FZJ80s are very nice, and maybe in my old age I would consider owning one. But, that is still a few years away. By then they will be cheep to the point of being disposable.

thx rudical and all the other posters. im just looking for a good daily driver. lockers would be nice but not a deal breaker, decent interior and sound mechanics are a must. yeah i apologize if i dont know all the lingo, and i appreciate any corrections that will help[ me find a truck

Just make sure you understand that a daily driver that get's 12 mpg is hard to swallow if your commute is more than a few miles.

i avg about 2500 miles a year on a vehicle so fuel wont be a problem

Lexus LX450 for sale in Corrales, white with gray cladding. Think it's been for sale for a while, guessing they want to much but might be worth a shot

looks like asking price is $6500.

That was my thinking too, so how the heck did I end up over 200k on one 80 and 180k on the other 80  I guess my road trips are long ones!

Thanks for the info everyone. found a very clean 97 lx450 in denver. not bad on fuel coming back to NM about 16.5mpg! its not my diesel MB at 38 mpg, but it was a great drive!
