Waiting for Jason to post up............:ban::hhmm::bounce::bounce2::deadhorse::smokin:

Hello all,

Sorry for the delay. We got home at 2:00 AM last night and I had to be at a shop in Angier where I spent all day rebuilding the front of my truck and putting on new meats.

Yes we have a Land Cruiser. Al and Andy went on a VERY VERY can I say VERY interesting ride, and we very much thank them for that. After dinner and we thought we were all done and had a car we got a call from the guy in Ashville who I have been in contact with since February when I was in Colombia. We were on our way home and we decided to go look at it in the dark in the middle of the suppossed Ghetto where they were staying with their inlaws to get ready to fly out to the islands for a weeks vacation. Anyway after looking at it in the dark, a quick ride in the rain near some of Al's dad's property, and some conversation back and forth about a future gathering to work out the title work we have an 80 Series Land Cruiser.
Who knows, suppossedly we have an LX450 as well:popcorn::idea::hhmm:. Crazy how things work out.

I guess I'll post more when I know more. Deirdre and I took it out this evening near our house and she had a blast in it. I'll post some pics tomorrow but it needs one hell of a cleaning and some changes but it is on its way to be a great rig for us. 160K miles, Factory Lockers, ARB front bumper and Mile Marker winch CHA CHING.

God if i'm going blind at 28 someone just kill me:D

Nah had more to do with my phone skipping part of the post when I hit the scroll arrow

Well I spent the whole day cleaning up the rig. Deeds spent about 2 hours yesterday on it and barely made a dent. This thing was TRASHED. It appears he mainly used it as his Snowboarding and Kayaking rig. That and his wife drove the kids around a few times a week. Litterally spent from 10-5 working on cleaning it up and doing a bit of maintenance. Battery Acid, Oil fill/chaneges, etc. Tried cleaning the engine compartment with my hose and some greased lightening but I need more pressure. Had to deal with some water in the Distributor but got it off, blew it out, and sprayed some WD40 in there and it drove great immediatly.

That poor front end with the Heavy Bumper and winch is really feeling the burden. Its got some Stinkbug. Going to need a lift sooner than later. I can hear it creaking up front and the stabalizer is shot. Besides being really worn down on the interior (which is Ok if it is going to be my off road rig) it seems like a great rig and doesn't really need anything. I need to take it by the Autozone and have them run a code to see why my check engine light is on. He mentioned something about soot buildup but I've never read anything about that before on the forum. Seems to have more power than the LX450 and this one has larger tires and more weight so it can't be effecting things to badly.

Ohh and tires are dirty because I just went and took it thru the sand after I spent all day cleaning it :)

Congrats

That was fast. I figured you would be looking for a while.

I told you it was meant to be.

I have a pressure washer if you want to borrow it.

Nice! Looks pretty sweet in the pictures...you must have done a great job cleaning it up!

Congrats again on picking it up. Time to update the sig.

When you come down for the other one drop by, i've got a pressure washer you can use.
I've also got a roller fairlead you can have.

I might take you up on it. I have a pressure washer but I got it for free and it is missing a plastic bolt that I can't seem to find anywhere in town. They want 45 bucks for it online. I thought that was rediculous. I might also just take it to the wash racks just so I can make sure all of the oil goes down into the pits.

What do you guys use for an oil wrench? I've had my HUGE diesel wrench for Years and I do have some Chain adjustable wrench that I use for my WVO setup on my F-250. But just wondering. I take it you go from underneith to get it off?

Looks WAY nicer in the pics than in real life. After checking out half a dozen rigs I can tell that is ALWAYS the case.

I look down at the end of my right arm..... if that one is missing i've got a back up on the end of my left arm :grinpimp:

I forgot he let you keep the racks up top. I remember looking at them and thinking those things are cool.

Looks great and not dirty at all from the pics!

I use a claw oil filter 3/8 ratchet attachment. You can use a smaller 3/8 ratchet and get at the filter from the top/side of the engine. Works great for me.

Here is a pic of what I'm talking about

That is a pretty cool contraption John. Never seen anything like that. Where do you find one of those?

I just changed the oil today and unlike Al with his God/Sasquach like hands I have little midget hands and could not get that darn thing off. I was going to stab it with a screwdriver but figured it is not likely that an oil filter is clogged up anyway so it will survive awhile. I usually just tighten my oil filters by hand but I don't think that is the case this time with this one.

Al, I'll see what Tuesday or Wenesday brings with work and all and give you a ring the day prior. Yea the racks are cool but sadly I took my Snowboard binding and boots back to Oregon this last Christmas...No real moutains within 2.5K miles of here :flipoff2:.

Dont bother going to the carwash down the street. The sprayguns suck, and they dont have a whole lot of pressure.
I should be home by 1800 all week so if you want to borrow the pressure washer just let me know.
I also have a oil filter contraption if you want to borrow as well.

I picked it up from Advance, Auto Zone or O'Riley...can't remember which one though.

I only hand tighten my filters to but for some reason the filter on my truck likes to tighten up on it's own :meh:.

Looks good Jason.

My better half would be jealous, so please do not show this to her. Still got aproval for the lift but if she see's this she might change her mind and tell me to find one for her now.

Glad to see you found an 80. So are you planning on buying his/hers 80 series? :)

No sure if you ran the engine code yet, but I bet it's the P0401...
