So some of you know whe have been seriously looking for an 80/450 for awhile...Well we made the plunge and decided to sell Deirdre's car...not thinking it would sell for awhile and we would have some time to look.

Luckily Jason Free gave us a scoop on an immaculate LX450 (headgasket just done, front axle service, new leather interior, tires and overall great shap with lockers, and came with a full 3 year warranty). We went and looked at it on Wednesday and were sold. Sold our Jetta fast...the very next day. Sadly the seller needed to keep it another week as the car he was waiting on was not done. We were suppossed to pick it up this Tuesday.

Suppossed. Sadly he was hit at 60 MPH yesterday and totaled the car. He was broadsided and broke all of his ribs, nose and foot. I guess the car is totaled.

Anyway we are out on the lookout again....Really only a few has to haves.

I'm going to call back and see if I can get the parts off the LX. He said he is parting it out. I don't mind doing work if there is an 80 out there with a good body and no lockers. That is only if it is a SCREAMING deal as I don't want to spend hours switching stuff over from a wrecked car to something else.

Or if anyone knows of a good rig out there in decent shape let me know. I'm open to options but if I'm not going to part one together if it is not a great deal it needs to have lockers...hopefully a 95-97.

We were at 6K for this car so that is our benchmark. 3rd time is the charm:popcorn:

Damn man...I can't believe your luck. We will find you something.

I wonder what would have happend to the guy if he wasn't in the LX? I can relate to the bad luck....trust me (ask Robert).

If he has the rear drop down tailgate for sale let me know, I am now in need of a new one.

That sucks..... I hope he gets better fast from it. Tell him to post up if he is parting out.

What about that one I sent you the link to in virginia.
37" tires, lockers, lifted. 6k price tag

Thanks Al,

That one is a little to large though. I need something can use as a daily driver. Something that will fit in our garage for now and she can go take her clients around in. Not a great thing when you have to a bring a foot ladder to help your clients get in and out of your car :D

Dude that sucks. Hope Bradley is ok; too bad about that truck, it was a nice one.

Got my eyes on this area. I dont know about the VA truck but what springs did it have? could you just drop some 33 or 34's on there and go like that. People are definately willing to trade up on springs on MUD. Got 4'' ? trade for mediums. I know someone would buy up those 37's on nc 4x4 or here.

lol i saw that one at carolina beach last month, sporting the stars n bars and the 'merican flag on the bumper corners.

Yes Bradley is doing better. Sounds like he is up an moving around now which is good.

Yeah that sounded more like a heavy trail rig though with the 37's...Looking for something that doesn't need a TON of maintenance right off the bat. I found a few more decent rigs but this is a big state and some of them are all the way in Virginia.

Anyone seen any of these rigs?

Figured I could make something like this one work if I could get Bradleys for a parts rig. Get rid of the bling wheels and throw on the locker and axles. We will see later how the insurance is going to work out.

Landcruiser/LX 450

No Lockers and a couple few grand above of what I'm looking to spend on it but in the general ballpark.

Not necessarily looking for an LX450 these just happened to be the cleanest in that price range.

Then of course there is this thing...still intrigues...I think if I could catch them on a day where they really needed their drug money I could snatch it up for a decent price...that is as long as it is not completely trashed...still leary of a flooded vehicle. And anyone who uses a car for storage probably doesn't take to good of care of their rigs.

I know it has been questioned by us, but it might still be worth a look, carfax, and close inspection to find out what real condition it is in. Other than a sketchy history, it might be fine mechanically and electrically. You have to remember that it is a Land Cruiser and things can be replaced if you can get it for a good price. The ad now says best offer...

Haha I called today and they changed their minds :) they are keeping it for now...funny...they said they may throw it up again in the near future...LAMO.

Drove to Cary this morning and checked out that white 96.....Pretty darn bad shape...not even sure I want to mess with it. Barely drove it as it had a flat front tire. The brake dust had eaten away the protective cover on the rims adn they were destroyed..tires bald...smelled musty I think the sunroof leaked...and I think his usual passenger was a dog. Bot front seats were in pretty bad shape and something had chewed the entire ball off of the low range selector. That and some nobs were missing. Fairly dirty engine no maint records. Birfs appeard to have been redone recently though.

Still looking...The other one in Winston Salem sold yesterday that we were going to head up and look at...Keep them comming guys.

Another one. Don't know if it has lockers...the ad is kind of thin with information.

Toyota Landcruiser

Yep,

I already called that one with a few others in SC. No lockers on any of the sadly. I even called for one that was for sale in TN...nice rig really clean but no lockers...I'm holding out and just thinking out lucky we were to ALMOST get that one from Bradley..I wish he would just call back and let me know what the parts truck is going to cost me...sure would open up my door for possible vehicles to purchase. But until then I'm holding on. All the nice ones seem to go pretty quick and the others are in the 10K range...which isn't outrageous but with all that seem to be out there I just think I could do quite a bit better. Yet I don't want to settle on some crap like I saw this morning. Plenty of nice clean trucks out there with decent mileage but no lockers. Why do ARBs have to be so darn expensive.

Let me know what he wants for that parts truck I might go in on it with you if there's some stuff I can use. :D

He told me I would be the first to know and that he was going to clear it all up and have answers by Tuesday. Didn't hear anything. I know that Mikesel wanted a rear hatch and I just really would like the seats, engine, and lockers. But all depends.. It really just opens up the pool when I know I could always put lockers in and I have a good backup engine if I need it.

Al there are two trucks in Charly town there that have lockers. One with 114K miles but they want almost 11K just out of my range..and the other they want 8K but it has 220K miles.

Joe....I don't know if you ever want to stop by that one in Cary and tell me if I'm being overly picky or not. I hate the grey with grey interior but overall it seemed like a decent car...just would need a lot of work to make a decent daily driver is all. Finding nobs and shift levers and tracking down possible leaks in a sunroof and new tires would make the car far from a good deal.
