Ohh great!!! More money to spend but how can a guy say no to something like that. Count me in as usual for another new piece of equipment. Damn you guys on this forum!!!!! You all keep costing me money. I hope all of have to take out a second mortgage - then and only then will I be happy. Next thing I know it will be 35's and then lockers, and then what next a .50 cal browning. Yah that sounds great too, anybody know where to get one of those. haha.

Everybody keep spinning and grinning.

P.S. I hope somebody takes the bull by the horn and let's get these babies in. Summer is wasting away.

The soft top is made of thick PVC or something like it. The inside is more soft fabric. The windows are also thick and welded to the top. It got an area in front with double layer to reduce noise.

A plate is screwed to the windshield top. the gap in the front is for hocking up the canvas. On each side of the trunk a folded sheet metal plate are screwed with the same holes as the FRP top. The brackets for the "U-bars" are connected on these (see the photos). Both U bars got adjustable heights. The rear U-bar got a "knee" to stretch the top. The original half back doors got a rubber lip on the top (after removing the windows). On these U-profiles is fitted. On the roll bar a Velcro is glued. All the way round the tube snap button are used to connect the top. The same are for the cover. The front door window top squeezes a lip on the top. When removing the Window frame, none connection. When the cover is on, it look like a sports scar spoiler and you can open the rear doors.

+ Not much noise
+ Very good quality
+ Few piercing in the chassis

- Stiff and hard to roll up side windows (should be removable with zippers)
- White inside fabric get dirty
- Difficult to fold down to fit the cover (I drive without cover)
- The top is not so fast and easy to fold as a sport scar top. It depends how tight you want it.

Here is also a soft top manufactured in Germany. He bought it used by Bushtaxi.de. A very nice solution!

I got an email back this mourning from the guy in Germany who makes this top. He Said it is only available for the BJ73. I don't suppose that a 74 is the same dimentions as a 73? My guess is the 73 is smaller. Anyone?

So as luck would have it, a BJ73 is the same size as a BJ74. I'm sure I am the only person who didn't know that, but anyway.... The cost for a single top is 1380 Euro which is approx. $1930 CAD. That doesn't include shipping or any duties, if there are any. I am still waiting to hear how many are available and what kind of deal they can work for a group buy. Who's all in?

Rikard,

Did you just chop your rear doors, or do they come like that on a 73?

All doors on a LJ73 from 1985 to 1990 delivered in Norway got removable tops (also the front doors). It's a set of cower for the opening when removing the windows.

For several Off-road-cars with hardtop or canopy-top
and fixed top frame we developed folding top conversions, which you can open fast and easy nearly like a sportscar softtop. These sets were produced by ourselves, so all our experiences in this field will find their way into the product, as well as our quality in workmanship, which is much more than the usual standard in the 4-wd-market.

I have tried several times to contact you guys but haven't gotten a response yet. I would like to order one or more of these tops ASAP.

Small update, the tops are in devolpment stages now and should have pictures in the near future.

Quality will be standard Eshan soft top quality along with his price point, which is unknown until the top is finished.

Thanks for the update. Any idea of when "the near future" is? I'd like to have something for this summer.

Prolly miss the summer with such a order.

Might want to spend a little more and buy one from Germany.

Heard back from the German guys. They are having some trouble tracking down the metal frames. The company that made them is no longer. Should be "some further weeks" till they can find a new supplier. Still now word on a group buy discount. I'll send another inquiry and hopefully get some pricing info soon. For anyone interested please let me know (as a few already have) so I have an idea of how many to ask for.

A 74 is longer. By exactly how much I'm not sure. Around 10" give or take would be my guess. I don't think this top will work you unless you can get it customized.

I live in vancouver bc and I am the only one that I know that has purchased and own the cabrio top. It is a great top and would highly recommend it. One problem is that the instructions are only in English and there are very few pictures, it is a very difficult puzzle. By the time I was done with shipping and duties it came to about $2500. I used an importer to ship it and I doubt there would be a reduction in price. I had also bought a set of rear doors a pulled out the hacksaw. I love it .
I will have it at the landcruiser show and shine, assuming that there is one in surrey again.
