I know there is a knowledgeable and very cool guy at Universal Toyota whose card I need to find, but was curious as to whom people might use in central Texas for modifications. Any independent shops or preferred dealers? Thanks!

I was just thinking the same thing! I'm in southwest Louisiana, willing to drive well into Texas for a good shop that knows Land Cruisers. I got a recommendation from an ARB consultant to check out Autobruder in Houston. I don't know if that's within your acceptable driving range, but that's all I got.

Tech Auto in Houston has done all the work on my rigs - super to work with and methodical and reasonable..... Ask for the owenr, Bobby..... a true gear head.

Javier's in Houston does a ton of work on the older rigs but tends to be backed up.

for anything body or other stuff I use Master Autobody - Victor and his team are great and do amazing work. They've got my truck now doing the snorkel, intake, rack install ( I spun a few of the factory nuts so I'm letting the pros handle)....

Cheers.

I've been to their shop and met the main guy there. Super nice, and can't do enough to help you!! They deal with a variety of different vehicles, but they are moving more and more Toyotas through. I'm not sure if there's a supporting vendor on here from that part of the country. With as many Toyotas as I've seen in Texas, there must be a lot of options, just not all shown in one place on here.

A few options, easiest to explore via the local Facebook page as at least one member is a local Toyota mechanic. I actually have been using one guy for years at the local Lexus dealer, if you're into great service for a price...though about the same as good independents, depending on the job. He's got a personal GX going on 300K miles.

Also worth considering.. home - PCASS-TX.com

I used two San Antonio dealers for oil changes when I purchased my lightly used 200, I asked about lubing the driveshaft and both advised the shaft is sealed and no maintenance needed I've since started doing my own maintenance. Love to hear any recommendations also for shocks or other mods around San Antonio.

I have always had very positive experience with Land Cruiser Specialists in Austin. Everyone I have spoken with, that has used them has also been very pleased.

We are getting ready to do the lift on the 100 and they are the only ship I am considering.

Austin is my hometown and I am up there frequently. Will check these guys out. Thanks to you and the others who have replied!

Tell Edwin I referred you. I don't think your experience will be any better or cheaper but it sounds cool to say that....

Ha! Will do. I think all business owners appreciate referrals and my dropping your name may get you moved up the priority list for future work.
