Does anyone have a lead on a solid H151 that came behind a 1HDT out there? My current box is starting to seem like it’s seen better days. I’m not particularly excited about having it rebuilt either ($$$). I’m in the state of MA if there’s anyone nearby.

Here’s a couple options…

Personally, I prefer the H152

After a ton of research and legwork, I just obtained an H152 from my local dealer. I should probably make a post about that experience.

I paid $2900 for the transmission, which came set up for some unknown V8 motor. None of the dealers could tell me what vehicle it was destined for or why it was available in the states. My best guess is that is was destined for a VDJ7# in South America? Part number is 33030-60C50.

I need to swap over my bell housing from my H151 and a proper 1HDT input shaft (ordered a new one from Partsouq) and the main bearing/retainer. $300-400 more. Otherwise I'm told it's a drop-in fit.

Unfortunately, I was told that the H152 I grabbed was the last one in the US and the part number was listed as "class E" (or type E, can't remember), which according to my dealer means it's one step from being discontinued. No clue what that means in the scheme of things. Quick Google shows it listed as available from a few places, but when I was doing my research virtually all of them said that it was impossible to get one. But you just have to find one person that will say 'yes' or actually work with you.

If you could find one in the US, that would easily be your best bet. You're not doing a auto-manual swap so you don't need the whole package like those 2 links, just the box. I'm not sure the viability of getting one from a dealer in Canada? I know England didn't get them, but I'm not sure about other countries like Spain etc. I haven't heard anything about availability in AUS or anywhere else.

Can sell H152 set up for 1HD without all the auto/manual swap parts, just sent the link above for example. Sent you a PM

Appreciate all the help guys, as far as the 152s go, there’s a company down in AUS that sells a drop in with the input shaft already swapped, I believe they are called HDAuto, but the shipping is a killer. Still cheaper than a rebuild or most of the other options I’ve seen out there but with the scarcity of the 151 and now the 152 it’s definitely an idea.

33030-60C51
Yea, sorry. I forgot about that part of my journey. Lol. I bought a 33030-60C51. THAT superseded number was what Toyota told me was the last one in the US.

It was showing as available from a dozen dealers I called and all said there was only one in the US at the time.

Sorry for the confusion.

There’s a guy on here I’ve talked to… @chapel gate He’s in England and can source good used H151s. Not sure where his pricing is at right now but I’m confident that he has a few in stock. Shipping is typically like $900 to port. He’s a good guy.

Didn’t realize he also shipped transmissions as well. Heard good things about him looking around for a 1HDT before I found a local HDJ. I will definitely reach out to him.
