Looking to buy a stock FJ40 in the $3k range, or trade for my '92 Miata.
I understand most at this price may need a little work, I'm ready for that.

Julie,
You will find what you are looking for. Just have to wait for the right one to come along. We bought our first one for $2,000 stock and we are working on buying another not stock for a good price. You will find what you are looking for.

There is a '66 soft top (factorty soft top and doors) on ebay. The reserve is $3,800 but you never know. It looks like it has great potential.

Julie

I found a beige 1961 FJ 40 with a V8 conversion. It runs great. It has no lift, a home made roll bar system and the back seat I think is out of a jeep. It does have a complete soft top and soft doors that are in really good shape. It's missing the spare tire carrier. It has something leaking from under the dash on the drivers side. I think it is brake fluid or something else that is hard on paint. The rear end has a centered differential so it's not stock. It is toyota rear end, just not the stock 61FJ. I drove it and the rear end needs rebuild. It is just south of Fresno, Ca and the guy is asking $3,000 for it.

I will PM you the phone number and location.

that centered rear axle is stock! all the way up until mid/late 63 they used the rear axle out of the fj25 series. my 63 soft top had it as well.:)

I have actually been talking to the guy with the two tone on the monterey craigslist link. Sounds good, not too far away, not far from being a daily driver, but ...

I HAVE TO SELL MY STUPID CAR FIRST!!! AAARRGH!

I just relisted my car for $2600, just enough to get that cruiser on the monterey craigslist, so we'll see what happens.
